The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Wednesday.

The Washington Nationals will look to build on their 7-1 win over the Marlins from Tuesday’s matchup. Alcides Escobar led the way, putting up a double and two RBIs while Juan Soto had a pair of hits with a double and an RBI of his own. Keibert Ruiz, Yadiel Hernandez, Jordy Mercer and Luis Garcia each had RBIs to cap off the offense as a team for the Nationals in the victory. Jake Rogers got the win to improve to 2-0 on the year after tossing 7.2 innings of one run ball, allowing just five hits while striking out four in the win. Josiah Gray will start here and is 0-2 with a 6.24 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season.

The Miami Marlins will look to rebound from a disappointing showing in the loss to the Nats on Tuesday. Nick Fortes had a solo home run to account for the lone RBI for the Fish in the losing effort while Miguel Rojas had a pair of hits with a double. Lewin Diaz added a base hit to cap off Miami’s offense as the Marlins had just five hits as a team in the losing effort. Trevor Rogers took the loss, falling to 7-8 after allowing one run on four hits while striking out ten over 5.1 innings of work. Elieser Hernandez will start here and is 1-2 with a 3.80 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season.

Washington is 16-40 in their last 56 games overall and 7-19 in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the NL East. Miami is 9-3 in their last 12 games as a favorite and 5-2 in their last 7 game three matchups while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall.

These are two pitchers in Gray and Hernandez that we really haven’t seen a ton of good stuff from this year, Gray because he’s struggled while he’s been with the Nationals and Hernandez because he’s had a small sample size this season. Either way, I’m looking at the over here as I don’t trust the pitching matchup and I think the offenses come to play in Wednesday’s affair.
