The Seattle Mariners and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park on Thursday afternoon. Let’s dive into the odds, starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Odds

Philadelphia is a -115 home favorite while Seattle is a -105 road underdog. The total for this game is set at 8 runs.

Starting Pitching Matchup

George Kirby will start for the Mariners and is 2-1 with a 3.57 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season. Philadelphia will send Matt Strahm to the mound here and he is 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season.

Matchup History

Philadelphia’s 6-5 win on Wednesday made it five straight meetings without back-to-back winners in this head-to-head matchup.

Trends

Seattle is 7-3 in their last 10 games against the NL East and 9-3 in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a left-handed starter. Philadelphia is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 35-16 in their last 51 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win.

Pick

I’m rolling with the Phillies here. The Phillies have done a good job hitting righties this season and the Phils are a lot more attractive of an option in their own ballpark. Seattle’s been up and down and last year they were slow starters as well before waking up over the course of the season and I just don’t know what to make of George Kirby yet either to be honest. I’m not the biggest Matt Strahm fan, but I think the Phillies’ bats do enough to get the win here.
