The Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels meet Wednesday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Angels posted a two-run win in the Monday opener, then on Tuesday Houston evened it up with a two-run win of their own. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Houston Astros

The Astros had a brief 3-1 lead (and a 4-3 lead) in the Monday opener but ended up losing 6-4 in the end. On Tuesday Houston notched all of their runs in the fifth inning during a 3-1 victory. Starter Framber Valdez lasted 8.0 innings with one earned on three hits, no walks and 12 Ks.

Cristian Javier will take the mound for the Astros on Wednesday. Over his seven starts so far Javier is 2-1 with a 3.54 ERA and 43 Ks in 40.2 innings. Javier is 22-13 with a 3.10 ERA in 85 career games (51 starts).

Los Angeles Angels

Over on the Angels’ side, they out-hit the Astros 11-7 in the Monday opener and scored the go-ahead runs in the eighth inning. On Tuesday Los Angeles couldn’t get much going on three team hits. Shohei Ohtani managed 7.0 innings in the start with three earned, six hits and two walks.

Griffin Canning will take the mound for the Angels on Wednesday. Over his four starts this year Canning is 2-0 with a 5.31 ERA and 18 Ks in 20.1 innings. In his career Canning is 14-13 with a 4.78 ERA in 47 games (45 starts).

The Astros are 41-12 in their last 53 in game three of a series and 27-11 in the last 38 road games. Houston is 37-17 in their last 54 Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Angels are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games and 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series. The under is 5-2 in LA’s last seven Wednesday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with the Astros. Javier is going to need a good outing and some help from the offense, though. Over his last three starts combined, Javier is 0-1 with seven earned on 13 hits and five walks in 18.2 innings. He’s coming off three earned in 7.0 innings against the Mariners on May 5. In the Tuesday game, Houston really only had the one big inning on offense but they got a great lift from Valdez in the start. If the Astros can get the bats going a little better here they should be okay.

Andrew's Free Pick: Houston Astros -125
