The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Atlanta Braves meet Tuesday in MLB action from SunTrust Park. The Diamondbacks are fresh off a weekend series versus the Blue Jays, losing all three games in a sweep. Arizona Diamondbacks 

The Diamondbacks didn’t have any luck versus the Blue Jays over the weekend, losing all three games 7-2, 5-2 and 7-5. In the Sunday finale, Arizona starter Tommy Henry lasted 4.1 innings with three earned on seven hits and one walk. 

For the starter job in the Tuesday game the Diamondbacks will send out Zach Davies. This year in 11 starts Davies is 1-5 with a 6.37 ERA and 45 Ks in 53.2 innings. Davies is 59-58 with a 4.25 ERA in 193 career starts. 

Atlanta Braves

Over on the Braves’ side, they beat the White Sox 9-0 on Friday. Atlanta would then go on to lose 6-5 Saturday and 8-1 in the finale, however. On Sunday, Braves starting pitcher Kolby Allard put up 1.2 innings with four earned runs on seven hits and a walk. 

Bryce Elder will make the start for Atlanta on Tuesday. This year in his 18 starts Elder is 7-2 with a 2.97 ERA and 80 strikeouts over 106.0 innings. Elder is 9-6 with a 3.04 ERA in 28 career games (27 starts). 

The Diamondbacks have hit the run line in 53 of the last 91 games and the money line in 52 of their last 93 games. Arizona has hit the under in 10 of their last 14 games. 

Meanwhile, the Braves have hit the money line in 28 of their last 35 and the run line in 16 of their last 20. Atlanta has hit the under in 34 of their last 83 games.

I might take a stab on the Diamondbacks here. Davies hasn’t been too bad over his last three starts. He’s got 18.0 combined innings during that time with seven earned on 11 hits and six walks. As for Elder, he gave up seven earned on six hits and four walks in Tampa Bay on July 9 during his last start. Elder should be able to bounce back and notch a better outing here, but if the Diamondbacks can get the bats going early Davies should keep things manageable on the other side.
