The Detroit Tigers and the Atlanta Braves meet Tuesday in MLB action from Truist Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Atlanta Braves vs Detroit Tigers Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Detroit Tigers will start Casey Mize here and Mize is 1-4 with a 4.43 ERA and 43 strikeouts this season. This will be Mize’s first career start against the Braves. The Atlanta Braves will send out Spencer Schwellenbach here and Schwellenbach is 0-2 with a 6.32 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season. This will be Schwellenbach’s first career start against Detroit.

Detroit Tigers Recap

The Detroit Tigers come into this one looking to bounce back after starting their series with a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Braves in Monday’s series opener. The loss was not the first step that the Tigers wanted to make after back-to-back series losses to the Astros and Nationals over the last week.

Tigers Struggling To Find Offense

Riley Greene leads the Tigers with 67 hits including 14 home runs and 37 RBIs along with 14 doubles, a .254 batting average and a .349 OBP in addition to a team-high 81 strikeouts this season. Mark Canha has 13 doubles, 6 home runs and 29 RBI and Javier Baez has a team-high 6 stolen bases. Matt Vierling also has 58 hits as well as 4 triples while Wenceel Perez has 5 triples and Kerry Carpenter has 10 doubles and 4 triples of his own with 29 RBIs.

Why the Detroit Tigers will win

  • The Braves have lost four of their last five games as home favorites following a home win.
  • The Tigers have won five of their last six Tuesday games as underdogs.
  • The Tigers have covered the run line in each of their last seven games as underdogs against NL East opponents following a loss.
  • The Braves have failed to cover the run line in five of their last six games as home favorites against AL Central opponents.
  • The Tigers have won the first inning in each of their last four Tuesday games as underdogs against National League opponents.

Atlanta Braves Recap

The Atlanta Braves come into this game looking to pick up some more momentum after their win to kick off the series on Monday. The win was just what the doctor ordered for the Braves, who were coming off of a dominant showing in their weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Braves Starting To Heat Up

Marcell Ozuna leads the Braves with 84 hits including 20 home runs and 62 RBIs while Orlando Arcia has 17 doubles and Ozzie Albies has a team-high 20 doubles, logging 65 hits as well this season. Ronald Acuna Jr. has a team-high 16 stolen bases as well this season but is now out for the season with a torn ACL. Matt Olson has 19 doubles with a team-high 74 strikeouts and Austin Riley has 13 doubles with a pair of triples.

Why the Atlanta Braves will win

  • The Tigers have lost seven of their last eight night games against National League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Braves have won each of their last five night games against American League opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Tigers have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five night games against NL East opponents.
  • The Braves have covered the run line in four of their last five night games against American League opponents that held a losing record.

Atlanta Braves vs Detroit Tigers Prediction

I’m on the Braves here. I know Casey Mize had a solid start last time out, but the Tigers continue to struggle against right-handed pitching, and look like the Tigers of the last couple of seasons with those struggles, and that’s not a good thing at all. The Braves came alive in that Tampa Bay series and while they didn’t have the strongest output on Monday, the momentum kept going and I think Schwellenbach has another solid outing here. Give me the Braves.
