The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Truist Park on Friday night.
The Miami Marlins will look to rebound from a four straight loss after a 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay in their last matchup. Jesus Sanchez has 61 hits along with 3 triples, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and a .205 batting average. Jorge Soler has 13 doubles with 13 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 88 hits, a .255 batting average and 24 doubles while Jesus Aguilar also has 98 hits of his own this season. Miguel Rojas also has 31 RBIs and 15 doubles and Avisail Garcia’s got 30 RBIs and 75 hits. Sandy Alcantara will start here and is 12-6 with a 2.13 ERA and 167 strikeouts this season.
The Atlanta Braves will look to build on their 3-0 win over Colorado in their series finale on Thursday. Matt Olson has 127 hits with a .249 batting average and a team-high 41 doubles while Marcell Ozuna has 89 hits with 14 doubles, 20 home runs and 46 RBIs. Austin Riley has 147 hits with 36 doubles, 33 home runs and 86 RBIs and Dansby Swanson also has 78 RBIs of his own as well as a .286 batting average and 148 hits this season. Charlie Morton will start here and is 6-5 with a 4.10 ERA and 168 strikeouts this season.
Miami is 18-38 in their last 56 Friday games and 16-35 in their last 51 games overall while the under is 5-0-2 in their last 7 division games. Atlanta is 7-1 in their last 8 division games and 20-7 in their last 27 series-opening games while the over is 2-0-2 in their last 4 Friday games.
I get the case to be made for either side with Miami sending the potential Cy Young winner in the NL to the mound in Alcantara while the Braves have been rock solid all year long and need to keep winning to keep pace in the division race. That being said, I like the under here as Alcantara’s pitched well against the Braves this season and should throw another gem here, but Alcantara also struggles to get run support and I could easily see this being a 3-2 kind of game, even with Charlie Morton on the other side. Give me the under here.
