In this article we will formulate an Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, April 24th at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in this series.

Can the Braves Complete the Sweep?

The Atlanta Braves are 16-6 this season and they have won eight of their last nine games. Atlanta has won the first two games in this series by scores of 5-0 and 3-0. Prior to this series, the Braves won two out of three against Texas at home and swept the Astros in three games on the road. Atlanta is absolutely rolling right now and they look like one of the best teams in baseball. The Braves were dominant during the regular season last year and they are well on their way to a repeat performance this year.

The Atlanta pitching staff has a 3.90 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and a .238 opponent batting average. The Braves offense has scored 133 runs with a .283 batting average and a .353 on base percentage. Marcell Ozuna is batting .326 with nine home runs and 27 RBI’s for the Braves this year. The Atlanta pitching staff has been average and they are right in the middle of the MLB with their team ERA, but their offense has been great. The Braves are second in the MLB in runs scored and they are at the top for team batting average.

Will Miami Score a Run?

The Miami Marlins are 6-19 this year and they have lost five of their last seven games. The Marlins have been shutout in the first two games of this series, so they are still searching for their first run. Prior to this series, the Marlins split a four game series with the Cubs and lost two out of three against the Giants at home. Miami has been one of the worst teams in the MLB this season and they have struggled with their pitching and hitting. The Marlins do play slightly better on the road though, as they are 4-6 away from home.

The Miami pitching staff has a 4.72 ERA, a 1.51 WHIP, and a .262 opponent batting average. The Marlins offense has scored 85 runs with a .217 batting average and a .274 on base percentage. Bryan De La Cruz is batting .262 with five home runs and 14 RBI’s for the Marlins. Miami is in the bottom third of the MLB in runs scored and they have scored three runs or fewer in seven of their last nine games.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Miami is starting Sixto Sanchez, who is 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP over 7.1 innings pitched. Sanchez has been mostly out of the bullpen this season and he has had three straight scoreless appearances. Atlanta is starting Reynaldo Lopez, who is 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP over 18.0 innings pitched this season. Lopez has allowed one earned run and 11 hits over 18.0 in three starts this year. Lopez has been fantastic in his first three outings this season, and he gets the benefit of solid run support on most nights.

Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins Prediction

Atlanta comes into this matchup looking for the series sweep, while Miami is just trying to score their first run of the series. The Marlins only have six wins on the season, while Atlanta is competing to be the best team in the MLB. I have been impressed with how Lopez has looked through three starts and while I don’t expect him to continue these numbers very long, he should be fine against a subpar Miami offense. Take the Braves -1.5 for my Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins prediction.
