New York Mets Betting Preview

The Mets had a solid weekend series versus the Cincinnati Reds with two wins in three games, then eked out an 8-7 win over Atlanta on Monday. In game two New York was down 6-0 in the late innings but made a comeback attempt in a 6-5 loss. Pete Alonso had two hits, three RBI and a homer, and starter Adrian Houser gave up five earned in 5.0 innings.

In the starter slot for the Wednesday matchup the Mets will send out Jose Quintana. Over his two starts this year so far Quintana is 0-1 with a 2.61 ERA and eight Ks in 10.1 innings. Quintana is 92-94 with a 3.73 ERA in 330 games (304 starts) in his career.

Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

Over on the Braves’ side, they were able to sweep the Arizona Diamondbacks in three games during their last set but couldn’t keep pace with New York on Monday. In game two Atlanta was out-hit 12-11 in the thwarted comeback. Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley each had two hits, two RBI and a run along the way to the victory.

The Braves will send out Allan Winans in his season debut on Wednesday. Over his career Winans is 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA in six starts.

Atlanta Braves Team Facts

  • The Braves have led after 3 innings in each of their last five games against National League opponents that held a losing record.

New York Mets Team Facts

  • The Mets have lost 10 of their last 12 games at Truist Park.
  • The road team has covered the run line in 10 of the Mets’ last 11 games.
  • The Mets have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last four games at Truist Park.

Mets vs Braves Prediction

I’ll probably take a stab on the Mets in this one. I could also probably go either way, though. Quintana has had a few bumps in the road over his first two starts this year but hasn’t been too bad overall. He gave up two earned in 4.2 innings in a loss to the Brewers in his debut, then got better with one earned in 5.2 frames against the Reds last week. A quality start from Quintana would help quite a bit here.

On Tuesday the Braves got a nice start from Reynaldo Lopez on 6.0 clean innings, three hits, three walks and six strikeouts. Eight different batters had a hit as well (Orlando Arcia went 0-for-3, though). It was a good all-around performance to even up the series. Whichever team gets their bullpen to hold up better will probably come away with Wednesday’s game. It’ll be a fun one to watch regardless.
