The Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Truist Park on Tuesday night.
The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build on their 7-3 win over the Braves in Monday’s series opener. Bryce Harper leads the Phillies with 42 hits including 14 doubles, 9 home runs and 27 RBIs while Nick Castellanos has 40 hits with 10 doubles and 21 RBIs. Kyle Schwarber also has 10 home runs and 22 RBIs as well while Alec Bohm’s posting a .292 batting average so far this season. Kyle Gibson will start here and is 3-2 with a 3.98 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season.
The Atlanta Braves will look to rebound from their loss to the Phillies on Monday. Matt Olson has 38 hits with a .244 batting average and a team-high 16 doubles while Marcell Ozuna has 38 hits with 5 doubles, 8 home runs and 20 RBIs. Austin Riley has 35 hits with 9 doubles, 8 home runs and 18 RBIs and Ozzie Albies has 6 home runs and 18 RBIs and Dansby Swanson also has a team-high 20 RBIs of his own as well this season. Ozzie Albies also has a team-high 40 hits, 18 RBIs and 8 doubles. Max Fried will start here and is 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season.
Philadelphia is 5-15 in their last 20 division games and 2-5 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Atlanta is 22-10 in their last 32 division games and 2-5 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter while the over is 6-0-1 in their last 7 games as a home favorite.
I get the reasoning for backing either side in this one, Creditbut I’m looking at the Phillies more so here. The Braves have Fried on the mound who has been one of, if not the Braves’ best pitcher this season, but the Phillies, despite their shortcomings up to this point, have been doing a pretty good job hitting against left-handed pitching this season and I think the Phillies find a way to steal this one at plus money. I’m not a Kyle Gibson fan, but I’ll back Philly because of the bats in this one.
