San Diego Padres Betting Preview
This week the Padres played the Colorado Rockies. San Diego didn’t do very well in that series, posting losses 5-4, 6-3 and 8-0 for a three-game sweep. On Friday in the opener versus the Braves, the Padres powered out a 3-1 win. Starting pitcher Matt Waldron finished with 5.2 innings, one earned, five hits, two walks and 10 Ks.
In the starter slot for the Saturday matchup the Braves will send out Yu Darvish. This year Darvish is 3-1 with a 2.43 ERA in eight starts. He’s struck out 37 batters on 40.2 innings. Darvish is 106-86 with a 3.56 ERA in 274 career starts.

Over on the Atlanta side, they played the Chicago Cubs this week. The Braves posted shutout wins 2-0 and 7-0 in the first two games of that series, but then lost Wednesday 7-1. In the Friday matchup the Braves gave up 13 hits in the defeat. Max Fried went 4.1 innings in the start with three earned on nine hits and three walks.
It’ll be Bryce Elder on the mound for the Atlanta start on Saturday. So far this season Elder is 1-1 with a 4.79 ERA in four games. He’s managed 16 strikeouts in 20.2 innings. Elder is 15-9 with a 3.75 ERA in 45 career games (44 starts).

Atlanta Braves vs San Diego Padres Prediction
I’ll try the Padres here. San Diego should be in good hands while Darvish is out there. Over his last three starts Darvish is 3-0 with no earned runs on eight hits and two walks in 17.0 combined innings. As for Elder, he gave up seven in 3.1 innings versus the Dodgers on May 4, but then came back with two earned in 5.1 innings during his last outing.
On Friday the Padres had a great offensive effort with 13 team hits but could only score in one inning. I’d like to see a more well-rounded effort Saturday but San Diego should have a decent shot at keeping it going.
