The Toronto Blue Jays and the Baltimore Orioles meet Monday in MLB action from Oriole Park. Here’s a Baltimore Orioles vs Toronto Blue Jays prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Blue Jays took on the Minnesota Twins over the weekend. Toronto lost Friday in the opener 3-2 but came back for a 10-8 win in game two. In the Sunday rubber match, the Blue Jays managed just two hits in a 5-1 loss. Starter Alek Manoah had a good outing however, notching 7.0 clean frames, four hits, one walk and six strikeouts.

In the starting pitcher role for Monday’s game, Toronto will send out Jose Berrios. This year Berrios has a 4-3 record and a 2.85 ERA over eight starts. He has 38 Ks in 47.1 innings overall. Berrios has a career record of 87-69 with an ERA of 4.10 in 220 games (219 starts). The Maple Leafs will meet the Rays after this series.

Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview

Over on the Orioles’ side, they played the Arizona Diamondbacks in their last series. Baltimore managed a 4-2 win in the opener of that set, then kept it going with a 5-4 win on Saturday. In the finale the O’s missed out on the sweep with a 9-2 defeat. Starter Dean Kremer put up 5.2 innings with three earned, four hits, four walks and 10 Ks.

As starter for Monday’s matchup, the Orioles are going with Corbin Burnes. This year over eight starts Burnes is 3-2 with a 2.83 ERA and 47 Ks in 47.2 innings. Burnes is 48-29 with a 3.23 ERA in 175 career games (114 starts.

Blue Jays vs Orioles Injury Notes

Blue Jays CF Kevin Kiermaier was out of the lineup for Sunday’s game versus the Twins due to an illness. He’s day-to-day.

Why the Baltimore Orioles will win

  • The Orioles have won each of their last nine games against American League opponents following a loss.
  • The Blue Jays have lost six of their last seven night games against teams that held a winning record.
  • The Orioles have covered the run line in each of their last 11 Monday games.
  • The Blue Jays have failed to cover the run line each of their last seven night games against teams that held a winning record.
  • The Orioles have led after 5 innings in each of their last six home games against American League opponents that held a losing record.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win

  • The underdogs have won each of the last four games between the Blue Jays and Orioles.
  • The Blue Jays have covered the run line in eight of their last nine road games against AL East opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Orioles have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five games.

Baltimore Orioles vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Orioles here. Both these starters could use a good showing, though. Burnes is 0-2 in his last three starts but hasn’t pitched too badly. In that time Burnes has given up a total of six earned in 18.1 innings. As for Berrios, he’s 0-3 in his last trio and coming off just 3.2 innings and six earned runs on seven hits and two walks versus the Phillies.

On Sunday Baltimore had a pretty rough loss with just four team hits. Realistically the O’s only had a couple of bad innings defensively, but those were plenty enough to put the game out of reach. Baltimore had four or more runs in three straight games prior to that however, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them get back to business on offense here.
