The Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox meet Saturday in MLB doubleheader action from Fenway Park. These will be the first and second installments in a four-game weekend series. Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays played the Cubs this week, losing two of three games in that set. After losses 1-0 and 2-1 in the first pair, Tampa Bay came back for a 4-3 win on Wednesday to stop the sweep.
For the starter gig in game one Saturday, Tampa will go with Trevor Kelley. In 2023 Kelley is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA and six strikeouts. In game two it’ll be Tyler Glasnow. This year Glasnow has a 6.23 ERA and eight Ks without a decision.
Boston Red Sox
Over on the Red Sox’ side, they also lost two of three in their last series, theirs versus the Reds. Boston fell 9-8 Tuesday and 5-4 on Wednesday before an 8-2 victory in Thursday’s matchup.
In game one the Sox starter will be Garrett Whitlock. So far Whitlock is 2-2 with a 5.14 ERA and 15 strikeouts. As for game two it’ll be Kutter Crawford.
The Rays are 4-0 in their last four opening games of doubleheaders and 40-18 in their last 58 overall. Tampa Bay is 1-7 in their last eight in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox are 8-3 in their last 11 in game two of a series and 2-9 in their last 11 opening games of a doubleheader. Boston is 8-3 in their last 11 in game two of a series.

I’ll take a stab on the Sox in game one. Whitlock came back with a nice performance in Arizona his last time out, posting a win May 27 with one earned on three hits and no walks in 5.0 frames. Another quality start like that and Boston will be in good shape.
ANDREW’S GAME TWO FREE PICK
As for game two I’ll probably lean Rays. Glasnow had some ups and downs in his first start of the year, giving up three earned on five hits and a walk in 4.1 innings during a no-decision. That said, I think Glasnow bounces back here and helps deliver a win for Tampa Bay.
