The Kansas City Royals and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Friday in MLB action from American Family Field. Kansas City is fresh off a series versus the White Sox. After wins in two of the first three games, on Thursday the Royals eked out a victory. As for the Brewers, they played the Dodgers this week, losing two of three games. Kansas City Royals

The Royals lost to the White Sox 4-2 on Tuesday, but otherwise notched wins 12-5 Monday and 9-1 Wednesday. In the game four finale, Kansas City posted six team hits in a 4-3 walk-off win. Starting pitcher Brady Singer left after 6.0 innings with one earned on five hits and two walks.

For the starter job in the Friday game, the Royals will go with Josh Taylor. In his nine games (zero starts) this year, Taylor carries a 6.55 ERA with 16 strikeouts over 11.0 innings. Taylor is 4-3 with a 3.97 career ERA in 130 games (one start).

Milwaukee Brewers

Over on the Brewers’ side, they beat the Dodgers 9-3 in game one, then fell 6-2 and 8-1 in the next two matchups. In the Wednesday finale, Milwaukee’s Wade Miley lasted 5.0 innings with seven earned on six hits and two walks.

Corbin Burnes will take the mound for the Brewers on Friday. Over his seven starts so far Burnes is 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA and 32 Ks in 39.2 innings. Burnes is 38-21 with a 3.26 ERA in 142 career games (81 starts).

The Royals are 15-39 in their last 54 road games and 8-22 in their last 30 after a win. Kansas City is 7-21 in their last 28 in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 6-2 in their last eight Friday games and 20-8 in their last 28 interleague games. Milwaukee is 2-8 in their last 10 overall.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to try the Brewers in this one, even though they’ve been struggling in the win column lately. Burnes is pitching well these days. He’s got five earned over his last three starts in 17.0 combined innings on 14 hits and seven walks. Milwaukee has scored two runs or fewer in three of their last five games however, so they’ll need to get the bats going in order to give Burnes some support. As for Kansas City, on Thursday they blew a late 3-1 lead but eventually rallied for the victory. The Royals are going to have a tough time finding opportunities against Burnes if he’s on point; this is looking like a lower-scoring game as well.
