The Los Angeles Angels and the Chicago Cubs meet Friday in MLB action from Wrigley Field. Here’s a Chicago Cubs vs LA Angels Prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview

The Angels took on the Oakland Athletics in their last series. Los Angeles lost the first two installments of that set 7-5 and 5-0. In the Thursday finale the Angels took a rough shutout loss 5-0. Starter Roansy Contreras left after 2.2 innings with two earned runs.

In the starter slot for the Friday game the Angels will send out Griffin Canning. So far Canning is 3-8 with a 4.71 ERA in 17 starts this year. In his career Canning is 22-29 with a 4.60 ERA in 84 games (80 starts).

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

Over on the Cubs’ side, they’re coming off a series versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Chicago similarly lost their first two games 6-4 and 5-3. On Thursday Chicago halted the sweep with a 10-2 win. Jameson Taillon lasted 7.0 innings in the start with two earned runs.

As starting pitcher Friday the Cubs are going with Justin Steele. This year Steele is 0-3 with a 3.20 ERA in 12 starts. Steele has a career record of 24-19 with a 3.28 ERA in 86 games (75 starts).

Chicago Cubs vs LA Angels Prediction

I might take a stab on the Cubs here. Probably not touching it, though. Steele hasn’t been too bad over his last three starts, posting seven earned runs in 20.0 innings combined on 17 hits and three walks. Steele didn’t get a decision in any of those outings. As for Canning, he’s got one good start (7.0 innings; one earned in a win) and two sketchy ones (a combined 11.0 innings and eight earned) in his last three.

On Thursday the Cubs got a 4-for-4 effort with two runs, two homers and six RBI from Ian Happ. It was a pretty great day all around on offense; everybody got on base at least once. I think Chicago has a decent shot at keeping things rolling Friday.
