The Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago White Sox meet Saturday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. This matchup marks the second installment in a three-game series over the weekend. Milwaukee Brewers 

The Brewers took on the Rockies this week and did fairly well with two wins in three games. Milwaukee’s Willy Adames and Andruw Monasterio each had solo homers in the 7-6 win Wednesday. On Friday versus the Sox, Milwaukee managed 11 team hits in a tight 7-6 win. Both Willy Adames and William Contreras finished with two RBI apiece. 

As starting pitcher Saturday the Brewers will send out Brandon Woodruff. Over his three starts this year Woodruff is 1-1 with a 1.65 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 16.1 innings. Woodruff is coming off a loss to Pittsburgh with two earned in 5.0 innings. 

Chicago White Sox 

Over on the White Sox’ side, they managed a series win over the Yankees this week with two victories in three games. On Wednesday in a 9-2 win, Chicago got three RBI, a run and two hits from Elvis Andrus. In the Friday game the White Sox had a pretty solid offensive evening but didn’t score after the seventh inning. Eloy Jimenez posted three hits, three runs and two RBI in the loss. 

It’ll be Jesse Scholtens in the start for the White Sox on Saturday. Over 18 games (four starts) in 2023 Scholtens is 1-4 with a 3.06 ERA. He’s got 35 Ks in 50.0 innings. Scholtens is 0-2 with a 2.41 ERA in his last seven appearances (two starts).

I’ll try the White Sox in this one. I could probably go either way, though; it’ll be an interesting starter matchup at the very least. Scholtens has been pretty solid in his last two starts with 12.0 innings and three earned—he’s just 0-1 in that time however, so he’ll need some help to finally get another W. As for Woodruff, he had some tough luck in his return as well with 5.0 innings and two earned. I like both starters to at least flirt with quality outings in game two. In the Friday game Chicago settled in well on the mound after giving up six earned in the first five innings. The bats are going to have to stay warm, but the Sox should be in good shape here.
