The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Saturday.
The Minnesota Twins will be looking to rebound from a 4-3 loss to the White Sox in Friday’s series opener. Luis Arraez has 142 hits including a team-high 24 doubles while also posting a .319 batting average. Byron Buxton also has 76 hits with a team-high 28 home runs and 51 RBIs and Gary Sanchez has 20 doubles this season. Jorge Polanco has 88 hits and 56 RBIs and Max Kepler has 43 RBIs as well on the year, while Carlos Correa’s also added 108 hits. Tyler Mahle will start here and is 6-7 with a 4.17 ERA and 126 strikeouts this season.
The Chicago White Sox will try to keep the ball rolling after their win over the Twins on Friday. Jose Abreu has 14 home runs, along with 62 RBIs, 154 hits and 30 doubles while Luis Robert has a .300 batting average with 107 hits, 12 home runs and 56 RBIs and Andrew Vaughn has 63 RBIs, a .289 batting average and 25 doubles this season. A.J. Pollock’s also added 45 RBIs and 21 doubles on the year for Chicago while Tim Anderson has 100 hits and a .301 batting average. Dylan Cease will start here and is 12-6 with a 2.27 ERA and 190 strikeouts this season.
Minnesota is 0-5 in their last 5 road games and 5-1 in their last 6 games overall while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 division games. Chicago is 4-10 in their last 14 games overall and 2-6 in their last 8 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record.
I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m looking at the under. Dylan Cease has been Cy Young caliber for much of this season and he simply strikes out a ton of batters. On the other side, Minnesota’s got Tyler Mahle going and Mahle’s been a serviceable acquisition at the deadline is also going through some bad luck or else his ERA would be almost a full run lower. I think this is going to be a low-scoring duel with so much at stake here, so give me the under.
