The Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox meet Wednesday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game set. Texas Rangers 

The Rangers managed 12 team hits in the Monday opener of this series, ultimately bagging the win 5-2. In Tuesday’s matchup Texas scored four over their final two at-bats but couldn’t pull off the win in a tense 7-6 defeat. Starter Nathan Eovaldi lasted 6.0 innings with four earned on five hits and two walks. 

For the starter job on Wednesday the Rangers will bring out Martin Perez. Over his 14 starts this year Perez is 6-3 with a 4.54 ERA and 54 Ks in 77.1 innings. Perez is 81-80 with a 4.44 ERA in 267 career games (237 starts). 

Chicago White Sox 

Over on the White Sox’ side, they had nine hits in the opener of this series but couldn’t score outside of the sixth inning. On Tuesday Chicago was out-hit 11-9 in the victory. Dylan Cease posted 6.0 innings in the start with two earned, five hits and two walks.

It’ll be Michael Kopech in the starting role for the White Sox on Wednesday. Over his 14 starts this year Kopech is 3-5 with a 3.92 ERA and 89 Ks in 78.0 innings. Kopech is 13-18 with a 3.72 ERA in 87 career games (47 starts). 

The Rangers are 16-7 in their last 23 in game three of a series and 15-7 in their last 22 road games. Texas is 17-37 in their last 54 Wednesday games. 

Meanwhile, the White Sox are 6-21 in their last 27 in game three of a series and 3-8 in their last 11 at home versus a lefty starter. The over is 5-1 in Chicago’s last six Wednesday games.

I’ll go with the White Sox. Probably staying away from this one, though. Kopech has been pretty solid over his last trio, posting a combined 16.1 innings with three earned on 14 hits and eight walks total. Kopech did give up six hits and six free passes in 4.1 frames during his last start, though. On Tuesday Chicago had a few big innings on offense—just enough to offset the sketchy pitching outing from their first three arms. Kopech is going to have to go six innings or so in this one to give the pen a rest. If he can do that I think Chicago has a decent shot at a victory.
