The Cincinnati Reds are 11-9 this season and they have lost three of their last five games. Cincinnati has won the first two games in this series by scores of 7-1 and 7-5. Prior to this series, the Reds were swept by the Mariners by scores of 9-3, 3-1, and 5-1. The Cincinnati pitching staff has a 4.12 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and a .232 opponent batting average. The Reds offense has scored 109 runs with a .227 batting average and a .312 on base percentage. Spencer Steer is batting .324 with three home runs and 18 RBI’s for the Reds. The projected starting pitcher for Cincinnati is Frankie Montas, who is 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP over 18.2 innings pitched this season.

Angels Preview

The Los Angeles Angels are 9-12 this year and they have lost six of their last eight games. Los Angeles has dropped the first two games in this series, but they did split a four game series on the road against Tampa Bay in the prior series. The LA pitching staff has a 4.61 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and a .231 opponent batting average. The Angels offense has scored 92 runs with a .239 batting average and a .305 on base percentage. Taylor Ward is batting .287 with six home runs and 21 RBI’s for the Angels. Cincinnati Reds Team Facts

  • The Reds have won each of their last seven games against the Angels.
  • The favorites have covered the run line in each of the Reds’ last eight games.
  • The Reds have led after 3 innings in each of their last three home games against American League opponents.
  • The Reds have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last 11 Sunday games against AL West opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Reds have led after 7 innings in each of their last seven games against the Angels.

Los Angeles Angels Team Facts

Reds vs Angels Prediction

The Angels come into this matchup really struggling over the last week and they will look to avoid the sweep here. LA has allowed 14 runs in the first two games of this series and their pitching staff has not been great in recent games. Cincinnati was swept in Seattle and their offense only scored five runs in those three games, but they have bounced back in a big way in the first two games here. The Reds are starting Frankie Montas, who has allowed eight earned runs and 10 hits over 7.0 innings in his last two starts. The Angels are going with Jose Soriano, who has allowed five earned runs and seven hits over 9.0 innings in two starts this year. I really like the Reds this season and I think they are going to be solid, but I am going to back the Angels here. Soriano looked very strong against the Rays in his last start, while Montas is allowing quite a few base runners. Take the Angels here.
