The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds meet Wednesday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. Here’s a Cincinnati Reds vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the games.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

The Cardinals played a couple of games versus the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. St. Louis managed to win both of those 7-6 and 4-3. On Monday in the opener versus the Reds, the Cardinals lost 3-1. In game two St. Louis struck back with a 7-1 victory. Kyle Gibson posted 6.0 innings in the start with one earned on two hits and two walks.

Andre Pallante will take the mound for the Cardinals in the start on Wednesday. This year Pallante is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA and six strikeouts.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Reds’ side, they took on the Los Angeles Dodgers in their last series. Cincinnati managed a three-game sweep in that set with wins 9-6, 3-1 and 4-1. After their Monday win, in the Tuesday game the Reds gave up 13 hits in the defeat. Starter Andrew Abbott had a rough night with 6.0 innings, six earned, seven hits and two walks.

It’ll be Frankie Montas in the starting pitcher role for the Reds on Wednesday. Across his nine starts this year Montas is 2-3 with a 4.61 ERA and 28 Ks in 41.0 innings total. Montas is 39-38 with a 3.94 ERA in 139 career games (108 starts).

Cardinals vs Reds Injury Notes

Cardinals SP Steven Matz (back) is scheduled to throw a light bullpen session on Wednesday.

Cincinnati Reds vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll probably stay with the Reds. Probably not touching this one, though. Montas has had some mixed results over his last three starts (with no decision in any of them). In that trio Montas has 11 earned runs combined in 15.2 innings with 20 hits and five walks. He’ll probably need a quality start here to give the Reds a fighting chance.

On Tuesday Cincinnati wasn’t doing terribly until the seventh inning when they gave up three runs and essentially put the game out of reach. The major issue was on offense, as the Reds’ four hits had no hope of competing. The bats need to wake up Wednesday.
