In this article we will formulate a Colorado Rockies vs LA Dodgers prediction for this MLB game on Thursday, June 20th at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game four in the series.

Rockies Pitching is a Disaster

The Colorado Rockies are 26-48 this year and they have lost three of their last four games. Colorado lost games one and two in this series, but they did win game three by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday. Prior to this series, the Rockies lost two out of three against the Pirates, lost two out of three against the Twins, and split four games with the Cardinals. Colorado is 3-7 in their last ten games and they are last in the NL West, 19 games behind the Dodgers.

The Colorado pitching staff has a 5.62 ERA, a 1.55 WHIP, and a .287 opponent batting average. The Rockies offense has scored 319 runs with a .250 batting average and a .309 on base percentage. Ryan McMahon is batting .271 with 12 home runs and 39 RBI’s for the Rockies this season. Colorado is last in the MLB in team ERA this season and they have allowed at least six runs in four of their last seven games.

Dodgers are Pulling Away in the NL West

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 46-30 this season and they have won three of their last four games. Los Angeles won the first two games in this series by scores of 9-5 and 11-9, but they allowed seven runs in the loss on Wednesday. Prior to this series, the Dodgers won two out of three against the Royals, lost two out of three against the Rangers, and won two out of three against the Yankees. Los Angeles is 8-5 in their last 13 games and they have a nine game lead in the NL West over San Diego and Arizona.

The Los Angeles pitching staff has a 3.39 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and a .219 opponent batting average. The Dodgers offense has scored 384 runs with a .257 batting average and a .338 on base percentage. Shohei Ohtani is batting .317 with 20 home runs and 52 RBI’s for the Dodgers this season. Los Angeles is tied for first in the MLB for runs scored this year and they have scored 26 runs in their last three games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Colorado is Ty Blach, who is 3-4 with a 4.65 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP over 50.1 innings pitched this season. Blach has allowed two earned runs in three of his last five starts, but did allow eight earned runs and 18 hits in the other two outings in that span. The projected starting pitcher for Los Angeles is Gavin Stone, who is 7-2 with a 3.01 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP over 74.2 innings pitched this year. Stone has allowed two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four starts and has gone seven innings in two of those four outings.

Why the Colorado Rockies will win

  • The Rockies have won six of their last nine games as underdogs following a home win.

  • The Rockies have covered the run line in five of their last six day games at Coors Field following a home win.
  • The Rockies have led after 3 innings in each of their last four day games against the Dodgers at Coors Field.

Why the Los Angeles Dodgers will win

  • The Dodgers have won each of their last 14 Thursday day games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Rockies have lost each of their last six home games against the Dodgers following a home win.
  • The Dodgers have covered the run line in each of their last six games against the Rockies following a loss.

  • Each of the Rockies’ last five home games against NL West opponents have gone OVER the total runs line.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Dodgers’ last four games as favorites against NL West opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the last four games between the Dodgers and Rockies at Coors Field.

Colorado Rockies vs LA Dodgers Prediction

Colorado was able to pick up the win in game three of this series on Wednesday night, but they are 22 games below .500 and they are just 15-21 at home. The Colorado offense has actually been decent so far this season, but their pitching has been terrible. The Rockies are starting Ty Blach, who has some ugly numbers on the season. The Dodgers are 22-15 on the road and they are cruising in the NL West. LA is starting Gavin Stone, who has been very strong recently. The Dodgers are huge favorites in this game, which takes almost all of the value away from them, but I am going to take a look at the over. We have seen plenty of runs scored in the first three games in this series and I think Blach is going to have another rough outing. My Colorado Rockies vs LA Dodgers prediction is for this game to go over the total.
