The Mets scored twice in both the first and fifth innings Friday, eventually powering out a 5-2 victory. On Saturday New York came back from a 6-1 deficit and held a brief lead in a 10-7 loss. Justin Verlander gave up six earned on nine hits and a walk in 5.0 innings as starter.
For the starter job on Sunday, the Mets will send out Tylor Megill. In his 10 starts so far Megill is 5-3 with a 4.32 ERA and 40 Ks in 50.0 innings. Megill is 13-11 with a 4.62 ERA in 43 career games (37 starts).
Colorado Rockies
Over on the Rockies’ side, they out-hit the Mets 8-7 on Friday but couldn’t get much going on the scoreboard. On Saturday Colorado out-hit New York 14-12 in the win. Starter Chase Anderson put up 5.0 innings, one earned, four hits and a walk.
Austin Gomber will take the mound for the Rockies on Sunday. Over his 10 starts this year Gomber is 4-4 with a 6.48 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 50.0 frames. He’s 25-23 with a 4.89 ERA in 109 career games (65 starts).

I’ll probably try the Mets in this one. Megill was pretty sketchy in his last start at Wrigley Field, going 3.2 innings with four earned in a loss. That said, Megill went 2-0 in his previous pair with 11.0 total innings, three earned, eight hits and five walks. On Saturday the Mets didn’t have a great pitching outing but overall the offense worked. If New York can keep that going I think they’re good for a victory here.
