Kansas City Royals 

The Royals took on the Angels over the weekend, winning just one of three games. On Monday versus the Tigers, Kansas City blew a 4-0 lead and ended up falling 6-4. Starting pitcher Jordan Lyles lasted 6.0 innings with three earned on six hits and a walk. 

For the starter job in the Tuesday matchup the Royals are sending out Daniel Lynch. This year in four starts Lynch is 0-3 with a 5.79 ERA and 20 Ks in 23.1 frames. Lynch is 8-22 with a 5.37 career ERA in 46 starts. 

Detroit Tigers 

Over on the Detroit side, they managed to win three of four games versus the Twins over the weekend. On Monday the Tigers scored five in the seventh inning alone on the way to the victory. Reese Olson logged 6.0 innings in the start with three earned on six hits and a walk. 

It’ll be Michael Lorenzen in the start for the Tigers on Tuesday. Over 11 starts this year Lorenzen is 2-4 with a 4.23 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 66.0 innings. Lorenzen is 33-33 with a 4.11 ERA in 324 career games (55 starts). 

The Royals are 15-36 in their last 51 in game two of a series and 14-38 in their last 52 versus a right-handed starter. KC is 16-46 in the last 62 overall. 

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 20-9 in their last 29 versus the AL Central and 1-4 in the last five Tuesday games. Detroit is 1-12 in the last 13 in game two of a series.

I’ll probably try the Tigers in this one. Also probably not touching it. Lorenzen needs a bounce-back after giving up 12 earned in his last 12.2 innings over two starts. Lynch is coming off a rough outing as well: seven earned in 7.0 frames versus Cincinnati. On Monday Detroit really only had the one big inning, but six different players contributed to the eight-hit total. I think the Tigers can keep it going in game two but I’m probably staying away.
