Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers are 10-7 this year and they have lost three of their last five games. Detroit lost game one of this series, but they did win game two by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon. Prior to this series, the Tigers split a four game series with the Twins and split a two game series with the Pirates. The Detroit pitching staff has a 2.96 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and a .201 opponent batting average. The Tigers offense has scored 60 runs with a .213 batting average and a .288 on base percentage. Mark Canha is batting .222 with three home runs and eight RBI’s for the Tigers. The projected starting pitcher for Detroit is Tarik Skubal, who is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP over 17.1 innings pitched this year.

Rangers Preview

The Texas Rangers are 9-9 this season and they have lost three of their last four games. Texas won game one by a score of 1-0 on Monday, but they lost game two on Tuesday. Prior to this series, the Rangers lost two out of three with the Astros and the Athletics. The Texas pitching staff has a 3.85 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and a .222 opponent batting average. The Rangers offense has scored 89 runs with a .261 batting average and a .338 on base percentage. Marcus Semien is batting .284 with two home runs and 16 RBI’s for the Rangers. • The Tigers have trailed after 7 innings in five of their last six games as favorites against American League opponents.
  • The Tigers have trailed after 3 innings in six of their last nine games as favorites against American League opponents.

  • The Rangers have led after 5 innings in each of their last 10 road games against American League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Rangers’ last seven road games against AL Central opponents.

Tigers vs Rangers Prediction

Detroit comes into this game after a nice comeback win on Tuesday, but their offense is still very inconsistent. The Tigers have scored one of the lower run totals in all of baseball so far this season, but their pitching staff has been very good. Detroit is starting Tarik Skubal, who has allowed 0 earned runs in two of his three starts this year. Texas is going with Dane Dunning, who has allowed three earned runs in each of his three starts this season. Dunning has not had an easy schedule so far this year, as he has gone against the Rays and Astros (twice). Detroit has the pitching advantage, but I really like getting this plus number with the Rangers. Take Texas here.
