The Miami Marlins and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Tuesday in MLB action from Chase Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Monday opener, the Diamondbacks posted a three-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Miami Marlins

The Marlins took on the Cubs over the weekend and lost two of three games. In the Monday matchup versus Arizona, Miami briefly had the game tied 1-1 but ultimately fell 5-2. Starter Braxton Garrett put up 5.1 innings with four earned on seven hits and a walk.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game it’ll be Jesus Luzardo for the Marlins. Luzardo is 2-2 with a 3.66 ERA and 43 Ks in 39.1 innings over seven starts this year. He’s 15-20 in his career with a 4.47 ERA in 68 games (52 starts).

Arizona Diamondbacks

Over on the Arizona side, they played the Nationals over the weekend and won two of their three matchups. In the Monday game the Diamondbacks out-hit the Marlins 13-9 in the victory. Zac Gallen put up 7.0 innings with one earned on five hits and a walk as starter.

It’ll be Brandon Pfaadt in the start for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. In his first start of the year (and the first of his MLB career) Pfaadt lasted 4.2 innings with seven earned on nine hits and a walk.

The Marlins are 19-39 in their last 58 Tuesday games and 2-6 in their last eight road games. The under is 14-5 in Miami’s last 19 Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 5-1 in their last six in game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven versus a team with a losing record. Arizona is 3-8 in their last 11 Tuesday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with the Marlins. I do like Pfaadt to bounce back and post a better start here, though. As for Luzardo, he’s been fairly erratic lately with nine earned over his last three starts in 16.1 innings of work. Luzardo will need a good showing here, and I think he’ll get it. On Monday in the opener Miami had a fairly solid all-around hitting day, but just couldn’t follow along with the Diamondbacks offense. The bullpen wasn’t too bad though, and I think Miami will bounce back with a win in game two.
