San Diego Padres
The Padres managed a 7-5 win in the Thursday opener of this series, then fell 9-0 in game two. On Saturday San Diego scored twice in the first and sixth innings during a 5-3 win. Joe Musgrove put up 5.0 innings with three earned, seven hits and no walks.
Yu Darvish will take the mound for the Sunday start. In his three starts so far Darvish is 0-2 with a 3.44 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 18.1 innings total. Darvish is 95-77 with a 3.50 ERA in 245 career MLB starts.
Arizona Diamondbacks
Over on the Arizona side, they posted a whopping seven runs in the eighth inning alone during the Friday blowout win. On Saturday the Diamondbacks got 5.0 innings, four earned, five walks and three hits from starter Merrill Kelly.
It’ll be Drey Jameson in the start for the Diamondbacks on Sunday. This year Jameson is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in five games (two starts). He’s got 15 Ks in 16.0 innings. Jameson is 5-0 with a 1.79 ERA in nine career games (six starts).
The Padres are 6-1 in their last seven in game four of a series and 3-7 in the last 10 overall. The under is 3-1-1 in San Diego’s last five road games.

I’ll take a stab on the Diamondbacks here. Jameson has been pretty darn solid so far this year, but he’s coming off two earned in 3.2 innings on three hits and four walks versus the Cardinals. Jameson will need to be a little tighter than that if he wants to bag another win in this one. Darvish should post a quality outing as well; all things considered this will be an interesting starter battle. On Saturday Arizona was able to stay close for most of the game. If the bats keep moving the Diamondbacks should be fine.
