The Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet Monday in MLB action from Dodger Stadium. The Twins are fresh off a weekend series versus the Cubs. Minnesota split the first pair in that set, then in the Sunday rubber match the Twins took a blowout victory. As for the Dodgers, they won the first two games of the Padres series over the weekend. On Sunday Los Angeles posted a shutout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Minnesota Twins

The Twins lost to the Cubs 6-2 on Friday but bounced back for an 11-1 win in game two. In the Sunday rubber match Minnesota scored seven runs in both the third and eighth innings in a 16-3 blowout win. Starter Louie Varland finished with 6.1 innings, three earned, four hits and one walk.

For the Monday starter gig the Twins will send out Pablo Lopez. In his eight starts this year Lopez is 2-2 with a 3.47 ERA and 62 strikeouts over 49.1 innings. Lopez is 30-33 with a 3.89 ERA in 102 career starts.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Over on the Dodgers’ side, they beat the Padres 4-2 Friday and 4-2 again on Saturday. In the Sunday matchup Los Angeles scored two runs in both the third and six innings in a 4-0 win. Tony Gonsolin went 5.0 frames in the start with two hits and a walk.

As starting pitcher Monday the Dodgers are going with Noah Syndergaard. Over seven starts so far Syndergaard is 1-3 with a 6.12 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 32.1 innings. Syndergaard is 58-44 in his career with a 3.52 ERA over 153 games (151 starts).

The Twins are 16-7 in their last 23 Monday games and 16-37 in their last 53 road games. Minnesota is 19-45 in their last 64 interleague road games versus a team with a winning record.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 100-36 in their last 136 at home and 59-23 in the last 82 in game one of a series. LA is 92-41 in their last 133 overall.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to take a stab on the Twins here. Lopez had a little trouble against the Royals back on April 28 (6.0 innings; six earned in a win) but he’s been solid in his last two starts since then. In that pair Lopez has a combined three earned on eight hits and five walks in 13.1 innings of work. On Sunday the Twins posted a whopping 18 hits in the blowout victory, but most of the damage came from two big innings. I like Minnesota to keep it up in this opener.
