The Colorado Rockies and the Cleveland Guardians met Tuesday in MLB action from Progressive Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Monday opener, the Rockies posted a shutout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies played the Phillies over the weekend, winning Thursday before three straight losses. On Monday versus Cleveland, Colorado scored four in the fourth inning and cruised to a 6-0 victory. Austin Gomber put up 5.0 innings in the start with three hits and three walks.

For the starter job in the Tuesday matchup, the Rockies will send out Ryan Feltner. In four starts so far Feltner is 1-2 with a 6.16 ERA and 21 Ks in 19.0 innings. Feltner is 5-12 with a 6.16 ERA in 26 career games (25 starts).

Cleveland Guardians

Over on the Guardians’ side, they lost their first two weekend games versus the Marlins before getting a 7-4 Sunday win. On Monday Cleveland was out-hit 10-4 in the shutout loss. Starter Cal Quantrill lasted 3.1 innings with five earned, eight hits and two walks.

Peyton Battenfield will take the starting role for Cleveland on Tuesday. Over two starts this year Battenfield is 0-1 with a 1.69 ERA and eight Ks in 10.2 total frames. This will be his third career start.

The Rockies are 18-37 in their last 55 overall and 15-37 in their last 52 road games. Colorado is 1-10 in their last 11 in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Guardians are 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series and 0-6 in the last six Tuesday games. Cleveland is 4-12 in their last 16 interleague home games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with Cleveland in this one. I could go either way, though. Battenfield has a couple of good starts under his belt this year, but he hasn’t gotten into the win column yet. In his last outing, Battenfield gave up just one earned on three hits and three walks over 6.0 innings in a road loss to Detroit. He should be in line for a quality start here if all goes well. On Monday in game one, Cleveland really had just the one bad inning on defense, but the four hits are a worrisome sign for the offense. The Guardians are going to have to get the bats going in order to get a W here.
