The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Kansas City Royals meet Sunday in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium. This will be the finale in a three-game series over the weekend. Los Angeles Dodgers 

The Dodgers scored three runs in the eighth inning Friday, powering out a 9-3 victory. On Saturday Los Angeles gave up five in the first inning during a 6-4 loss. Starter Julio Urias went 3.0 innings with five earned on six hits and two walks. 

For the Sunday starter job, the Dodgers will go with Tony Gonsolin. In his 11 starts this year Gonsolin is 4-2 with a 3.30 ERA and 46 Ks in 57.1 innings. Gonsolin is 30-8 with a 2.65 ERA in 70 career games (62 starts). 

Kansas City Royals 

Over on the Royals’ side, they posted nine team hits (giving up 11) in the opener and couldn’t get much going on the scoreboard. On Saturday KC was out-hit 9-7 overall. Starting pitcher Daniel Lynch lasted 5.0 innings with three earned on five hits and three walks. 

It’ll be Brady Singer in the start for the Royals on Sunday. Across his 16 starts this year Singer is 4-7 with a 5.88 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 82.2 innings. Singer is 23-27 with a 4.37 ERA in 82 career games (79 starts). 

The Dodgers are 37-16 in their last 53 versus the AL Central and 3-8 in their last 11 in game three of a series. LA is 0-6 in their last six Sunday games.

Meanwhile, the Royals are 16-35 in their last 51 interleague games and 2-5 in their last seven in game three of a series. KC is 23-61 in their last 84 overall. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably try the Royals here. Singer had a sketchy outing versus the Tigers on June 21 (7.0 innings; five earned in a loss) but in the other two of his last three he’s pitched well. In that pair Singer has two earned in 11.1 innings on 12 hits and four walks. On Saturday Kansas City had a hot start but tapered off as the game went on. The Royals will need to keep the pressure up on offense in this finale but I think they’ve got a good shot at a W.
