Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

The Braves had a series versus the New York Mets this week, and things didn’t go very well with two losses in three games. Atlanta bounced back with an 8-1 win versus Miami on Friday, though. On Saturday the Braves couldn’t score much on six team hits in a 5-1 loss. Marcell Ozuna had the lone RBI and starter Chris Sale gave up all five earned in 7.0 innings.

In the starter role for the Braves on Sunday, they’ll send out Charlie Morton. In his two starts this year Morton is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA and 10 Ks in 11.1 innings. Morton has a 131-113 record in his career with a 3.99 ERA in 355 games (354 starts).

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, their last series came against the New York Yankees. Miami lost the first pair in that set but managed a Wednesday win to hold off the sweep. On Saturday versus the Braves, the Marlins had eight hits in the victory. Bryan De La Cruz put up three RBI and Josh Bell had a solo home run.

It’ll be Jesus Luzardo in the starter gig for the Marlins on Sunday. In three starts this year Luzardo is 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA and 17 Ks across 15.0 innings total. Luzardo is 23-30 with a 4.28 ERA in 96 career games (80 starts).

Miami Marlins Team Facts

  • The Marlins have won six of their last seven games as home underdogs after playing the previous day.
  • The Marlins have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine games at LoanDepot Park.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Marlins’ last three home games.
  • The Marlins have led after 5 innings in three of their last four games as home underdogs against NL East opponents.
  • The Marlins have led after 3 innings in four of their last five games as home underdogs against NL East opponents.

Atlanta Braves Team Facts

  • The underdogs have won five of the Braves’ last six games at LoanDepot Park.
  • The Braves have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight games as road favorites against the Marlins following a road loss.
  • The Braves have trailed after 7 innings in each of their last six Sunday day games as road favorites.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Braves’ last four games as favorites against NL East opponents.

Braves vs Marlins Prediction

I’ll stay with Atlanta. Morton needs to have a good bounce-back effort in this one, though. Following a nice 5.2 innings with no earned runs in a win during his opener, Morton struggled a bit versus the Mets on April 8. In that one he posted 5.2 innings with four earned on five hits and five walks. This lineup should be a little easier for Morton to handle if all goes well, though.

On Saturday the Braves fell behind 5-0 by the sixth inning and couldn’t cash in on the limited opportunities they had. Atlanta also drew zero walks. I like the Braves to bounce back with a more disciplined overall effort in Sunday’s finale.
