In this article we will formulate a Miami Marlins vs Texas Rangers prediction for this MLB game on Friday, May 31st at loanDepot park in Miami, Florida. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game one in the series.

Marlins are Back at Home

The Miami Marlins are 20-37 this season and they have lost three of their last five games. Miami is coming off of a series loss against San Diego, where they lost two out of three games, but out scored them 10-7 in three games. Prior to that series, the Marlins won two out of three against the Diamondbacks, won two out of three against the Brewers, and won two out of three against the Mets. Miami is 9-5 in their last 14 games, but they are still last in the NL East behind Philadelphia, Atlanta, Washington, and the Mets.

The Miami pitching staff has a 4.54 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and a .250 opponent batting average. The Marlins offense has scored 211 runs with a .235 batting average and a .289 on base percentage. Jazz Chisholm is batting .262 with eight home runs and 29 RBI’s for the Marlins this season. Miami is towards the bottom of the MLB in runs scored this year and they have scored three runs or fewer in six of their last seven games.

Rangers Go For Four Straight Wins

The Texas Rangers are 27-29 this year and they have won three games in a row. Texas is coming off of a series win against Arizona, where they won both games by scores of 4-2 and 6-1. Prior to that series, the Rangers lost two out of three against the Twins, were swept in three games against the Phillies, and lost two out of three against the Angels. Texas is just 5-12 in their last 17 games, but they are still second in the AL West behind Seattle.

The Texas pitching staff has a 4.04 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, and a .230 opponent batting average. The Rangers offense has scored 249 runs with a .241 batting average and a .313 on base percentage. Corey Seager is batting .260 with 13 home runs and 29 RBI’s for the Rangers this season. Texas has struggled offensively at times this season, but they have scored 16 runs in their last three games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Miami is Sixto Sanchez, who is 0-3 with a 6.25 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP over 31.2 innings pitched this season. Sanchez has allowed three earned runs or more in three of his last five starts and has only gone 5.0 innings in one of those outings. The projected starting pitcher for Texas is Jose Urena, who is 1-4 with a 3.53 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP over 43.1 innings pitched this year. Urena has allowed two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four starts.

Why the Texas Rangers will win

The Marlins have lost each of their last seven home games against American League opponents.
The Rangers have won five of their last six games against the Marlins.
The Marlins have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six home games against American League opponents.
The road team has covered the run line in five of the Marlins’ last six games.
The Rangers have led after 5 innings in each of their last four games.

Total Runs Facts

Each of the Rangers’ last four games as favorites have gone UNDER the total runs line.
Each of the Marlins’ last four night games as underdogs have gone UNDER the total runs line.
The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Rangers’ last seven games as favorites.
The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Marlins’ last seven night games against American League opponents.

Miami Marlins vs Texas Rangers Prediction

Texas has had trouble stringing wins together so far this season, but they have won three games in a row and they are looking to get hot. The Rangers have a solid lineup and I think they will find success against Sanchez, who has an ugly ERA and WHIP. Texas is going with Jose Urena, who has been great over his last four outings. Miami has actually played decently well over the last two weeks, but they are just 10-19 at home and the offense is way too inconsistent. My Miami Marlins vs Texas Rangers prediction is for the Rangers to get the win in game one.
