The St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Saturday in MLB action from American Family Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game set over the weekend. In the Friday series opener, the Cardinals posted a blowout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

St. Louis played the Reds this week, winning the first two games before a Wednesday defeat 12-2. In the Friday matchup versus the Brewers, the Cardinals jumped ahead early 8-0 and never looked back in a 15-4 win. Adam Wainwright lasted 6.1 frames with no earned on three walks and four hits.

Starting pitcher for St. Louis on Saturday will be Kwang-hyun Kim. In his 97.2 innings this year Kim has 83 hits, 38 runs (35 earned), 10 homers allowed, 34 walks, 75 strikeouts and a 3.23 ERA.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they did well versus the Giants this week, posting three wins before a Thursday defeat. In Friday’s matchup, Milwaukee gave up five runs in the top of the ninth to bury any hope of a comeback. Freddy Peralta put up just 2.0 innings with four earned runs on two walks and three hits.

Starter in game two for the Brewers on Saturday will be Adrian Houser. In his 112.1 innings this season Houser has 98 hits, 53 runs (46 earned), 11 homers allowed, 53 walks, 86 Ks and a 3.69 ERA.

The Cardinals are 6-2 in their last eight in game two of a series and 10-3 in their last 13 road games. The over is 3-1-1 in St. Louis’ last five Saturday games and 6-2 in their last eight on the road with a total of 9.0-10.5.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 6-1 in their last seven in game two of a series and 36-15 in their last 51 Saturday games. Milwaukee is 42-20 in their last 62 overall and 35-16 in their last 51 versus the NL Central.

PICK: I’m going to try the Brewers here. Probably staying away however, as this looks like a pretty good matchup. Houser needs a good bounce-back start following his five hits, three walks and five earned in 5.0 innings versus the Twins his last time up. As for Kim, he’s given up three earned on five walks and seven hits in 10.2 innings over his last three appearances. I like both starters to do well here in a low-scoring, tight Brewers win.
