The New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Truist Park on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets will look to rebound from an 8-4 loss at the hands of the Washington Nationals last time out. Pete Alonso went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs while Billy McKinney added a solo homer as well and Jeff McNeil added a pair of hits and an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for the Mets in the win. Dominic Smith and Luis Guillorme each had a pair of hits and Patrick Mazelka added a base hit to cap off the offense for the Mets in the losing effort. Jerad Eickhoff took the loss, falling to 0-1 after allowing five earned runs on eight hits while striking out three over six innings of work. Tylor McGill will start here and is 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA and 4 strikeouts this season. This will be McGill’s second career start against Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves will look to build on their 4-0 win in Sunday’s series finale over Cincinnati. Ronald Acuna Jr. went 2 for 4 with a solo home run, a double and two RBIs while Austin Riley added a solo home run and Freddie Freeman had an RBI as well to finish off Atlanta’s scoring as a team in the win. Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson each had a double as well to finish off the Braves’ offense as a team in the victory. Kyle Muller got the win to improve to 1-1 after tossing five one-hit shutout innings, striking out nine in the win. Charlie Morton will start here and is 7-3 with a 3.68 ERA and 93 strikeouts this season. In his career, Morton is 2-3 with a 3.12 ERA and 53 strikeouts against the Mets.

New York is 21-47 in their last 68 games as a road underdog and 15-7 in their last 22 games against a team with a right-handed starter while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 series-opening games. Atlanta is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite and 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall.

The Mets are playing some of the best baseball in the division right now, and the Braves have yet to really live up to expectations this season after their strong showing last year. However, Charlie Morton has been really good for Atlanta this year and is one of those pitchers that doesn’t always get the recognition he probably deserves. McGill is still a relative unknown and I think if there’s a spot for the Braves to take a win in the set, It’s here. Give me Atlanta in this spot.
