The Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees meet in an AL East division matchup in MLB action from Yankee Stadium on Friday night.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to rebound from a 5-4 loss at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays in their last matchup. Trey Mancini had a double with an RBI while Ryan Mountcastle, Austin Wynns and Cedric Mullins all had RBIs to cap off the scoring for Baltimore in the loss. Jorge Mateo added a double as well while Ramon Urias, Austin Hays and Anthony Santander each had base hits to finish off the offense for Baltimore in the losing effort. Matt Harvey allowed four runs on six hits over four innings of work, but it was Dillon Tate that took the loss to fall to 0-5 on the year as a result. John Means will start here and is 5-6 with a 3.46 ERA and 104 strikeouts this season.
The New York Yankees will try to build on their 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels in their lat game. Luke Voit went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Aaron Judge had a solo home run and Brett Gardner had an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for New York in the win. DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Rizzo and Rougned Odor each had base hits as well to cap off the offense for the Yankees in the win. Gerrit Cole got the win to improve to 14-6 on the year after allowing one run on four hits while striking out 15 over seven innings of work. Aroldis Chapman closed the 9th for his 25th save of the season. Nestor Cortes Jr. will start here and is 2-2 with a 2.77 ERA and 64 strikeouts this season.
Baltimore is 23-51 in their last 74 Friday games and 16-35 in their last 51 games against a left-handed starter while the over is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games as a road underdog. New York is 4-0 in their last 4 Friday games and 5-1 in their last 6 series-opening games while the under is 10-2 in their last 12 Friday games.
This should be an interesting game to watch, as I’m pretty sue it’s safe to say that the Yankees are the better team, but the Orioles had woken up the offense against Toronto and it’s not like Nestor Cortes is some shutdown pitcher. Give me the over in this spot in a game that I could easily see hitting double-digits.
