Kansas City Royals Betting Preview

The Royals played the Houston Astros this week, taking a nice three-game sweep with wins 4-3, 11-2 and 13-3. In the Friday opener versus the Mets, Kansas City posted just three team hits in a 6-1 loss. Starting pitcher Michael Wacha put up 6.0 frames with five earned on 10 hits and two walks. Salvador Perez managed a solo homer on offense.

In the starting pitcher role for the Saturday matchup, the Royals will send out Alec Marsh. In his two starts so far this year Marsh is 1-0 with a 3.09 ERA and eight strikeouts over 11.2 innings total. Marsh has a career record of 4-9 with a 5.34 ERA in 19 games (10 starts).

New York Mets Betting Preview

Over on the Mets’ side, they played the Atlanta Braves this week and did pretty well with two wins (8-7 and 16-4) in three games. On Friday versus KC, the Mets posted 14 team hits in the win. Pete Alonso hit a solo home run, and starting pitcher Luis Severino had 5.0 innings with just one earned on four walks and one hit.

It’ll be Sean Manaea in the starting pitcher slot for the Mets Friday. In his two starts this year Manaea is 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA and 11.0 frames with 14 Ks. Manaea has a career MLB record of 66-56 and a 4.07 ERA in 198 games (168 starts).

Royals vs Mets Prediction

I’ll stick with the Mets. We should have a pretty good pitching matchup here if both guys are on point, though. Manaea has given up just one earned run in 11.0 innings so far. He’s coming off a win over the Cincinnati Reds. As for Marsh, he was a little shaky versus the White Sox in his last outing (4.2 innings; three earned) but started out well in the Orioles matchup.

On Friday New York had a great offensive showing. Alonso, Brett Baty and Jeff McNeil (three hits; RBI) and Harrison Bader each had multiple hits on the day. The bullpen came through as well with 4.0 innings, no earned, two hits, no walks and six Ks. It was a nice performance to kick off the series, and I like New York to keep it going on Saturday.
