The Oakland A’s and the New York Yankees meet Wednesday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s an Oakland A’s vs. New York Yankees prediction.

Oakland A’s Team Preview

The Oakland A’s come into this game looking to shake off a disappointing 4-3 loss at the hands of the Yankees in Tuesday’s game two. The A’s fell behind early, and chipped away to the middle innings, but despite outhitting the Yankees 7-5, the A’s couldn’t complete the comeback. Shea Langeliers leads the A’s with 5 home runs and 11 RBIs while Zack Gelof has a team-high 33 strikeouts as well as 4 stolen bases this season. JJ Bleday has a team-high 19 hits with 3 doubles and J.D. Davis and Lawrence Butler also have 3 doubles as well this season. Joe Boyle is slated to start this one for Oakland and is 1-3 with a 7.23 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. This will be Boyle’s first career start against the Yankees. The Athletics will play against the Orioles following this series.

New York Yankees Team Preview

The New York Yankees will look to take back-to-back games in this series after their win over the A’s on Tuesday. The Yankees plated four runs in the first and didn’t look back as they rode those four runs to the finish line for the W. Juan Soto leads the Yankees with 29 hits and a .319 batting average along with a .432 OBP in addition to a team-high 20 RBIs and 5 home runs. Giancarlo Stanton has a team-high 5 home runs as well with 12 RBIs and Oswaldo Cabrera has 3 home runs and 14 RBIs. Alex Verdugo also has a team-high 6 doubles while Aaron Judge has 3 home runs, 11 RBIs, 6 doubles and a team-high 31 strikeouts. Anthony Volpe also has 25 hits with a team-high 6 stolen bases. Clarke Schmidt will get the start here and is 1-0 with a 3.15 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. In his career, Schmidt is 2-1 with a 5.17 ERA and 17 strikeouts against the Yankees. The Yankees will meet the Brewers after this series.

New York Yankees Team Facts

  • The Yankees have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven games as favorites after playing the previous day.
  • The Yankees have trailed after 3 innings in seven of their last 10 games as favorites against AL West opponents.
  • The Yankees have led after 5 innings in each of their last four night games against the Athletics at Yankee Stadium.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Yankees’ last five Wednesday games.

A’s vs. Yankees Prediction

I’m on the over here. The A’s were able to drum up a bit of offense in Tuesday’s loss, but I think the offense could come a bit easier against a pitcher in Clarke Schmidt that I simply don’t trust. The Yankees should have no problem picking up runs against Joe Boyle, who continues to struggles with runs and walks and the Yankees have been one of the more disciplined teams at the plate so far this season. I think we’re headed for a high-scoring affair on Wednesday, so give me the over in this one.
