The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet Wednesday in MLB action from PNC Park. Here’s a Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers prediction. This will be the third installment in a four-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

The Brewers took on the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend, winning three straight for a sweep. On Monday, Milwaukee lost their first game versus Pittsburgh, taking a 4-2 loss. In game two on Tuesday the Brewers took a tough 2-1 loss. They managed just three team hits along the way. Starter Tobias Myers put up 5.0 innings with one earned on four hits and a walk. Gary Sanchez put up a solo homer as his only hit.

For the starting pitcher gig in the Wednesday matchup, the Brewers will send out Bryse Wilson. This year Wilson is 2-0 with a 3.29 ERA in seven games (one start). He’s got 12 Ks in 13.2 innings. Wilson has a 17-17 career record with a 4.74 ERA in 116 games (44 starts).

Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

Over on the Pirates’ side, they took on the Boston Red Sox in their weekend series. Pittsburgh didn’t play very well, taking three straight losses for a sweep. Following their two-run victory on Monday, in the Tuesday matchup the Pirates got 7.0 innings with one earned run out of starter Bailey Falter. Andrew McCutchen put up a solo homer among his two hits.

It’ll be Pittsburgh’s Josh Fleming in the starting role on Wednesday. Fleming is 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA in 10 games (zero starts) so far this year. Fleming is 20-13 with a 4.74 ERA over 65 career games (22 starts).

Brewers vs Pirates Injury Notes

We got a few injury tidbits on both sides as this series kicked off. Brewers RP Jakob Junis (15-day IL) was struck in the head/neck by a ball during batting practice on Monday. Wade Miley was placed on the 15-day IL on Monday, retroactive to April 19 (left elbow inflammation).

There aren’t too many new reports out of Pittsburgh. Catcher Yasmani Grandal started a couple of rehab games over the weekend. RP Ryan Borucki (triceps) should resume throwing soon.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

I’ll probably lean toward the Brewers. That said, the Pirates looked good in their opener win on Monday, bagging three runs in the sixth inning on the way to nine team hits. They’ll have some opportunities versus Wilson after a few innings, though. In the meantime, if Wilson can keep things rolling Milwaukee will be set up well on defense. Wilson is 2-0 with one earned on five hits and one walk over his last 8.0 frames.

As for Milwaukee’s bats, on Tuesday they had a pretty slow offensive evening with just three team hits. The pitching effort was solid overall, though. I like the Brewers to post a good game on both sides Wednesday.
