The Baltimore Orioles and the Oakland A’s meet in MLB action from the RingCentral Coliseum on Monday night.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to build on their 5-0 win over the New York Yankees last time out. Kelvin Gurierrez and Rougned Odor each had two RBIs with Gutierrez going 2 for 4 with a double while Jorge Mateo had three hits with an RBI to finish off the scoring for Baltimore in the win. Ryan Mountcastle had a pair of hits and Austin Hays added a base hit as well to cap off Baltimore’s offense as a team in the win. Bruce Zimmermann threw five innings of four-hit shutout ball, allowing just four hits while striking out six, not factoring in the decision. Jorge Lopez got the win in relief to improve to 1-1 on the year. Spenser Watkins will start here and is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 1 strikeout this season.

The Oakland A’s will try to rebound from a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Toronto in their last game. Stephen Vogt had a solo home run while Sean Murphy and Seth Brown each had an RBI to cap off the scoring for the A’s in the losing effort. Tony Kemp had a pair of hits while Chad Pinder and Kevin Smith each had a base hit to cap off the offense for Oakland as the A’s had just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Adam Oller took the loss, falling to 0-1 after allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three over 3.1 innings of work. Frankie Montas will start here and is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season.

I get why you’d look the way of the O’s as this is a heavier price than you’d normally like to lay with Oakland. However, the A’s have played some solid ball despite a 10-game road trip to start the year and while the Orioles have had some tough competition, the results for the most part, are as they’d be expected regardless of who they’d play as the O’s are arguably the worst team in the AL. Montas is also tabbed as the best arm in Oakland’s rotation and I think they find a way to get the job done in this one on the -1.5 run line.
