The Colorado Rockies and the Oakland A’s square off Thursday in MLB action from Oakland Coliseum. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Oakland Athletics vs Colorado Rockies Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Colorado Rockies will send out Ryan Feltner for the start here and Feltner is 1-4 with a 5.69 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season. This will be Feltner’s first career start against Oakland. Joey Estes will get the start for the A’s here and is 1-1 with a 9.35 ERA and 9 strikeouts this season. This will be Estes’ first career start against Colorado.

Colorado Rockies Recap

The Colorado Rockies come into this one looking to win the rubber match of the series after evening the set up at one win apiece thanks to a 4-3 win in extra innings over Oakland on Wednesday. The win gives the Rockies a chance to bounce back after being swept in their weekend series against the Giants last week.

Rockies Still Showing Up At The Plate

Entering Wednesday’s matchup, Ryan McMahon leads the charge for the Rockies with 54 hits including team-highs of 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 10 doubles with a .305 batting average while Elias Diaz has a .312 batting average with 44 hits and 8 doubles as well as 21 RBIs. Ezequiel Tovar has a team-high 13 doubles as well as 60 strikeouts with 4 stolen bases while Brenton Doyle has 9 doubles, a pair of triples and a team-high 8 stolen bases.

Why the Colorado Rockies will win

  • The Athletics have lost each of their last 10 games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum after going to extra innings.
  • The Rockies have won eight of their last 10 games as underdogs after playing the previous day.
  • The Athletics have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven games.

  • The Athletics have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last seven games against opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Rockies have won the first inning in each of their last three games as underdogs against AL West opponents.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s come into this one looking to bounce back and win the series after their loss in Wednesday’s matchup, putting Oakland at risk of a fifth straight series loss after losses to the Royals, Mariners, Rangers and Astros before this.

A’s Still Have Pop In The Bats

Going into Wednesday, Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs this season while Abraham Toro has a team-high 50 hits and 18 RBIs. JJ Bleday has a team-high 14 doubles, 42 hits and 18 RBIs and Toro has a .294 batting average. Rooker also has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 50 K’s at the dish this season. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 10 home runs and 26 RBIs.

Why the Oakland Athletics will win

  • The home team has won nine of the Athletics’ last 10 games.
  • The Rockies have lost nine of their last 10 road games against AL West opponents.
  • The Rockies have failed to cover the run line each of their last four day games against American League opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Athletics have covered the run line in four of their last five games as favorites after going to extra innings.
  • The Rockies have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last seven day games against American League opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Rockies have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last six day games against American League opponents that held a losing record.

Oakland Athletics vs Colorado Rockies Prediction

I’m on the over here. The starting pitching matchup of Feltner vs. Estes is suspect to begin with, but Feltner has been exceptionally poor more often than not this season. Estes isn’t a lot better, and the Rockies have crushed rights as of late, and Oakland hasn’t been far off either. I think this is just a low total because it’s a pitcher friendly park, but I think the offenses come through on Thursday. Give me the over.
