The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres meet Friday in MLB action from Petco Park. The Dodgers are fresh off a series versus the Phillies, winning all three games. As for the Padres, they played the Reds in their last set, winning two of three. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers didn’t have a ton of trouble with the Phillies this week. After wins 13-4 on Monday and 13-1 in game two, Los Angeles took a 10-6 win on Wednesday for the sweep. Starting pitcher Gavin Stone put up 4.0 innings with four earned on eight hits and two walks.

For the starter job in the Friday matchup it’ll be Clayton Kershaw. In his six starts this year Kershaw is 5-1 with a 1.89 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 38.0 innings. Kershaw is 202-88 with a 2.47 career ERA in 407 games (404 starts).

San Diego Padres

Over on the Padres’ side, they beat the Reds 8-3 on Monday but then took a 2-1 loss in the Tuesday matchup. In the Wednesday rubber match, San Diego cruised to a 7-1 victory. Starting pitcher Seth Lugo left after 6.0 innings, one earned, seven hits and two walks.

It’ll be Joe Musgrove in the starter role on Friday for the Padres. Over his two starts so far Musgrove is 1-0 with a 10.80 ERA and nine strikeouts in 8.1 innings. Musgrove has a career record of 51-54 with a 3.86 ERA in 172 games (146 starts).

The Dodgers are 58-21 in their last 79 in game one of a series and 48-21 in their last 69 versus the NL West. LA is 86-39 in their last 125 overall.

Meanwhile, the Padres are 5-1 in their last six at home and 4-1 in their last five overall. San Diego is 1-4 in their last five Friday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m staying with the Dodgers. Los Angeles did a great job in the Cincinnati series, outscoring the Reds by a 36-11 margin. Kershaw is rolling right along as well; he’s 3-0 in his last three with 20.0 combined innings, one earned, eight hits and one walk. As for Musgrove, he had a rough time against the Giants his last time up with seven earned on six hits and a walk in 3.1 innings. I like Musgrove to bounce back here, but this should be LA’s game to take behind Kershaw.

Andrew's Free Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -132
