The San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Thursday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be the final installment in a four-game series. Here’s a Phillies vs Giants prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Phillies vs Giants pick.

San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

San Francisco opened up the 2025 MLB season with a nice run, bagging wins in two of three games versus the Cincinnati Reds, then came a sweep of the Houston Astros in three games. The Giants continued to roll strong with a three-game sweep versus the Seattle Mariners, then lost two of three to the Reds in another series early this month. Over the weekend, the Giants managed victories in two of three games versus the New York Yankees. In Monday’s opener versus the Phillies, San Francisco powered out a 10-4 victory. In the Tuesday matchup the Giants gave up two runs in three different innings during a 6-4 loss. Casey Schmitt put up a hit with two RBI, while starter Justin Verlander struggled on 5.2 innings, four earned, eight hits, three walks and just one strikeout.

On Wednesday in game three, San Francisco put up 13 team hits in an 11-4 victory. The Giants got two RBI from four different players in the win. Robbie Ray gave up four earned on six hits and five walks alongside eight strikeouts in 4.0 innings as starter.

As starter for the Giants on Thursday it’ll be Jordan Hicks. This year Hicks is 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA in three starts over 15.1 innings total. Hicks is 16-29 with a 4.01 ERA in 244 games (31 starts) over his career. He’s got 33 saves as well.

Philadelphia Phillies Betting Preview

Over on the Phillies’ side, they started the 2025 campaign out well with a series win over the Washington Nationals, taking two of the three games. Philadelphia followed that up with a sweep over the Colorado Rockies, then the Phillies would win two of three versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Philly followed that up with losses in two of three versus the Atlanta Braves and then split the first pair versus the St. Louis Cardinals ahead of a Sunday rubber match loss 7-0. Following their six-run loss Monday, in the Tuesday game Philly posted 10 team hits in the victory. Both Bryce Harper and JT Realmuto (two hits) came away with two RBI and a homer each. Jesus Luzardo logged 5.1 innings with three earned runs on five hits and two walks as starting pitcher.

On Wednesday the Phillies gave up four runs in both the first and seventh innings during the loss. Bryce Harper finished with two runs, two hits, a homer and two RBI. Starter Aaron Nola had 5.1 innings with nine hits, six earned, four walks and eight strikeouts.

Christopher Sanchez will take the ball for the start on Thursday. So far this year Sanchez is 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in three starts over 17.1 innings overall. Sanchez is 18-16 with a 3.67 ERA in 75 career games (56 starts) at the MLB level.

Phillies vs Giants Prediction

I’ll lean Phillies in this one. Sanchez was pretty spotty on April 6 in his start versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, notching four earned on six hits and a walk in 5.2 innings total. Sanchez has 11.1 innings over two starts otherwise, posting a combined two earned on 12 hits and four walks in all. As for Hicks, he opened with 6.0 clean frames in a win over the Astros, but then posted a middling effort with three earned in 5.1 innings versus the Mariners. Hicks continued his downward trend in a start versus the Yankees on April 12, posting a loss with seven earned in 4.0 innings on eight hits and three walks.

Philadelphia fell behind early on Wednesday but managed to crawl out of a 4-0 hole. Trouble is, the Phillies didn’t score after that. It’s going to take a good bounce-back effort Thursday.
