The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers meet Tuesday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. Arizona played the Rockies over the weekend, winning two of three games. Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks took blowout wins 9-1 and 11-4 over the Rockies in the first two games of their weekend series, but then fell 12-4 in the Sunday finale. Starter Ryne Nelson put up 4.0 innings with six earned on nine hits and a walk in that one.
For starter duties on Tuesday the Diamondbacks will send out Zac Gallen. In six starts this year Gallen is 4-1 with a 2.15 ERA and 51 Ks in 37.2 innings. Over 87 career starts Gallen is 26-23 with a 3.02 ERA.
Texas Rangers
Over on the Rangers’ side, they lost to the Yankees 4-2 back on Thursday. Texas bounced back with wins 5-2, 2-0 and 15-2 in the next three games, though. Finale starter Martin Perez had a nice outing on 6.0 innings, six hits, one earned and one walk on Sunday.
It’ll be Jon Gray for the Rangers start on Tuesday. This year in five starts Gray is 1-1 with a 3.91 ERA and 17 Ks in 25.1 frames. Gray is 61-57 with a 4.49 ERA in 181 career games (180 starts) as well.
The Diamondbacks are 10-3 in their last 13 after a loss and 4-1 in their last five interleague road games. Arizona is 5-2 in their last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 7-1 in their last eight versus a team with a winning record and 5-1 in their last six road games. Texas is 24-53 in their last 77 after an off day.

I’ll stick with the Diamondbacks here. Gallen is on quite a roll right now. In his last three starts Gallen is 3-0 with zero earned, zero walks and eight hits over 20.0 combined innings. He should be able to notch another nice outing in this opener as well. As for Gray, he’s got six earned on 10 hits and seven walks over his last two starts in 11.1 innings. I like Gray to post a decent outing here but Gallen should put the Diamondbacks in a good spot.
