The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres meet Wednesday in MLB action at the Gocheok Sky Dome. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres prediction.

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 100-plus games in each of the last three seasons and enter this year as the World Series favorite. The Dodgers were already a great team on paper, but they went out added Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernández, Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Without any of those additions, the Dodgers would’ve still been the title favorite entering this season. With those moves, the Dodgers become one of the most stacked teams in MLB history. It’s really just that simple. A batting order that leads off with Mookie Betts, Ohtani and Freddie Freeman is just unfair. The Dodgers’ rotation could eventually get back Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May. Again, simply unfair. Tyler Glasnow gets the ball, and he was 10-7 with a 3.53 ERA and 162 strikeouts last season. Glasnow is 0-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 6 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.

San Diego Padres Betting Preview

The San Diego Padres are in a weird spot as they were a trendy pick to win the World Series last year but didn’t even make the playoffs with 82 wins. The Padres said goodbye to a ton of free agents including Gary Sanchez, Josh Hader, Blake Snell, Michael Wacha and Seth Lugo. The Padres also traded Juan Soto to the Yankees. The Padres only key additions come to their starting rotation, as they traded for Dylan Cease, Michael King and Johny Brito. There’s still potential with this Padres squad as Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts lead the batting order. A three-man rotation of Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove and Cease is one of the best in MLB. Maybe the Padres perform better with less attention on them. Yu Darvish gets the ball, and he was 8-10 with a 4.56 ERA and 141 strikeouts last season. Darvish is 4-5 with a 2.38 ERA and 92 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles Dodgers Team Facts

  • The Dodgers have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four night games against National League opponents.
  • The Dodgers have trailed after 7 innings in four of their last five games as favorites against NL West opponents.
  • The Dodgers have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last three games as favorites against National League opponents.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres prediction

Getting Darvis in the big underdog role is appealing until you learn he’s lost 5 straight games and 9 of his last 12 starts as an underdog. Glasnow is a CY Young candidate when he’s right, and he has a ridiculous batting order to back him up if he slips. The Dodgers have won 7 of the last 10 games against the Padres, and this is the best LAD roster we’ve seen in quite some time. It’s one game, and opening day jitters are real. Still, I’m rolling with the Dodgers in this contest, and I’ll lay the RL to shave down the juice.
