The Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres meet Saturday in MLB action from Petco Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a San Diego Padres vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Milwaukee Brewers will send out Carlos Rodriguez for the start here and Rodriguez is 0-2 with a 6.48 ERA and 7 strikeouts this season. This will be Rodriguez’s first career start against the Padres. The San Diego Padres will send out Randy Vasquez for the start here and Vasquez is 1-4 with a 5.70 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season. This will be Vasquez’s first career start against the Brewers.

Milwaukee Brewers Recap

The Milwaukee Brewers come into this one looking to bounce back after back-to-back losses to the Padres to start the series thanks to a 9-5 loss in Friday’s matchup. Friday’s loss meant the best the Brewers could do in this series is split to try to keep their series unbeaten streak alive after series wins over the Angels and Reds over the last week.

Brewers Still Producing Despite Losses

Going into Friday’s matchup, William Contreras leads the Brewers with 89 hits including 17 doubles and 48 RBIs along with 9 home runs and a .362 OBP while Rhys Hoskins has 10 home runs with 30 RBIs and Willy Adames has a team-high 17 doubles with 13 home runs and 54 RBIs. Brice Turang leads the Brewers with 26 stolen bases while Adames has a team-high 69 strikeouts as well this season.

Why the Milwaukee Brewers will win

  • The Brewers have won four of their last five games as road underdogs against the Padres following a loss.
  • The Padres have lost three of their last four games as favorites against the Brewers following a home win.
  • The Brewers have covered the run line in each of their last eight Saturday games as road underdogs.
  • The Padres have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight day games at Petco Park following a home win.

San Diego Padres Recap

The San Diego Padres will try to win the series after picking up the W on Friday, and a win here would snap the Padres’ series losing streak after losses to the Phillies and Mets over the last week.

Padres Starting To Pick Up Steam Offensively

Entering Friday’s action, Jurickson Profar has 85 hits along with a .321 batting average and 12 doubles with 10 homers and 48 RBIs. Jake Cronenworth has 47 RBIs while Fernando Tatis Jr. has belted a team-high 14 home runs this season. Manny Machado has 7 home runs and 36 RBIs but also has 65 strikeouts while Ha-Seong Kim has 55 hits with 3 triples, 9 doubles, 9 home runs, 35 RBIs and a team-high 15 stolen bases. Tatis Jr. also has a team-high 86 hits, 71 strikeouts and 8 stolen bases as well this season.

Why the San Diego Padres will win

  • The Brewers have lost each of their last six road games against National League opponents.
  • The home team has won 10 of the Padres’ last 11 games.
  • The Padres have covered the run line each of their last eight day games against teams that held a winning record.
  • The Brewers have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight games against NL West opponents following a loss.

San Diego Padres vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

I’m on the Padres here. I know that Carlos Rodriguez has been one of the higher-ranked prospects in the Brewers’ organization and has been their minor league pitcher of the year for the last two seasons, but it just doesn’t feel like he’s major league ready. I still think he has a bright future ahead, but now’s not the time. Are the Padres my favorite team? No, but they’ve looked good in the first couple of games in this series and are fully capable of busting out offensively as they have the names to do so. Give me San Diego.
