The Chicago Cubs and the San Francisco Giants meet Monday in MLB action from Oracle Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Chicago Cubs will send out Justin Steele for the start here and Steele is 0-3 with a 3.16 ERA and 56 strikeouts this season. The San Francisco Giants did not have a starting pitching announced at the time that this article was posted.

Chicago Cubs Recap

The Chicago Cubs will be out to rebound from a series loss to the New York Mets after a 5-2 loss to New York in Sunday night’s series finale. The series loss was far from ideal for the Cubs after failing to build on their series win over the Giants from this time last week.

Cubs Trying To Find Consistency Offensively

Going into Sunday’s action, Cody Bellinger leads the Cubs with 67 hits including 13 doubles, 9 home runs and 33 RBIs. Nico Hoerner has 59 hits, 14 doubles and a .236 batting average while Christopher Morel has a team-high 14 home runs and 43 RBIs. Michael Busch has 9 homers with 26 RBIs but has 80 strikeouts as well this season. Ian Happ also has a team-high 16 doubles with 9 home runs and 39 RBIs but also has the unfortunate distinction of leading the Cubs with 82 strikeouts this season.

Why the Chicago Cubs will win

  • The Giants have lost each of their last five games.
  • The Cubs have won each of their last four road games against NL West opponents following a home loss.
  • The Cubs have covered the run line in eight of their last nine night games against National League opponents following a loss.
  • The Giants have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five night games against teams that held a losing record.

San Francisco Giants Recap

The San Francisco Giants come into this one looking to rebound after being swept by the St. Louis Cardinals in Sunday’s series finale. The sweep gave the Giants 5 straight losses and a third straight series loss after their losses to the Cubs and Angels over the last week and a half.

Giants Trying To Find Their Footing

Entering Sunday, Thairo Estrada has 66 hits along with a team-high 9 home runs and 39 RBIs while also chipping in 14 doubles. Michael Conforto has 46 hits with 8 home runs, 9 doubles and 25 RBIs while Matt Chapman has 66 hits of his own alongside 19 doubles with 8 homers, 30 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. Chapman also has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 76 strikeouts this season.

Why the San Francisco Giants will win

  • The Giants have won each of their last six night games against the Cubs at Oracle Park following a loss.
  • The Cubs have lost five of their last six road games against National League opponents.
  • The Giants have covered the run line in six of their last seven home games against National League opponents.
  • The Cubs have failed to cover the run line in five of their last six games against NL West opponents.

San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs Prediction

I’m on the under here. I think this is a tough spot for both teams here. For the Cubs, it’s a road spot after playing at home on Sunday night, and teams coming off of Sunday night baseball on the road without rest have usually had issues offensively the following day more often than not. On the other side, it’s a tough travel spot for the Giants as well who haven’t been hitting the ball well over the last week. All in all, I think a low-scoring game is on the cards here, so give me the under.
