The Chicago Cubs and the San Francisco Giants meet Tuesday in MLB action from Oracle Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Chicago Cubs will send out Kyle Hendricks for the start here and Hendricks is 1-4 with a 7.46 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Giants, Hendricks is 3-0 with a 2.59 ERA and 25 strikeouts. The San Francisco Giants did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was published.
Chicago Cubs Recap
The Chicago Cubs come into this one looking to rebound after starting the series with a 5-4 walk-off loss to the Giants in Monday’s series opener. The loss was not ideal for the Cubs, who are already reeling after a series loss to the New York Mets over this past weekend.
Cubs Struggling To Find Consistency
Cody Bellinger leads the Cubs with 70 hits including 13 doubles, 9 home runs and 34 RBIs. Nico Hoerner has 62 hits, 14 doubles and a .241 batting average while Christopher Morel has a team-high 15 home runs and 45 RBIs. Michael Busch has 9 homers with 27 RBIs but has 84 strikeouts as well this season. Ian Happ also has a team-high 16 doubles with 9 home runs and 40 RBIs but also has the unfortunate distinction of leading the Cubs with 85 strikeouts this season.
Why the Chicago Cubs will win
- The Giants have lost five of their last six games.
- The Cubs have won six of their last eight games against NL West opponents following a loss.
- The Cubs have covered the run line in each of their last five night games following a road loss.
- The Giants have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five games following a win.
San Francisco Giants Recap
The San Francisco Giants come into this game fresh off of their win on Monday that snapped their 5-game losing streak going into that one, while also getting the Giants a series-opening win to start the road back after a string of series losses against the Cardinals, Cubs and Angels over the last week and a half.
Giants Finally Wake Up
Thairo Estrada has 66 hits along with a team-high 9 home runs and 39 RBIs while also chipping in 14 doubles. Michael Conforto has 46 hits with 8 home runs, 9 doubles and 25 RBIs while Matt Chapman has 66 hits of his own alongside 19 doubles with 8 homers, 30 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. Chapman also has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 76 strikeouts this season.
Why the San Francisco Giants will win
- The Giants have won each of their last six home games against National League opponents that held a losing record.
- The Cubs have lost six of their last seven road games against National League opponents.
- The Giants have covered the run line in seven of their last eight home games against National League opponents.
- The Cubs have failed to cover the run line in six of their last seven games against NL West opponents.
San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs Prediction
I’m on the Giants here. Hendricks did a solid job of taking down the Giants in his last start, his return to the Cubs’ starting rotation, but it’s hard to beat the same team twice in quick succession, and I’m having a hard time envisioning Hendricks having back-to-back solid outings. The Giants have figured it out and are playing their better baseball at home this season and I think San Francisco snags another win over the Cubs here. Give me San Francisco.
