The New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants meet in MLB action from Oracle Park on Wednesday afternoon.
The New York Mets will be looking to carry over some momentum after rallying from a massive deficit despite falling short in Tuesday’s matchup with San Francisco. Going into Tuesday’s game, Francisco Lindor has 40 hits along with 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and a .238 batting average while Pete Alonso also has team-highs of 49 hits, 11 home runs and 40 RBIs. Starling Marte has 22 RBIs as well while Eduardo Escobar has 10 doubles as well as a pair of triples and Brandon Nimmo has also chipped in a triple as well this season. Jeff McNeil has 47 hits, 12 doubles, a triple and a .311 batting average as well on the year.
The San Francisco Giants will try to build on their massive win after suffering a horrendous collapse in Tuesday’s affair with a strong performance here. Heading into Tuesday’s matchup, Joc Pederson with 7 home runs and 14 RBIs while Wilmer Flores has 34 hits with 24 RBIs, a team-high 8 doubles and a .254 batting average. Thairo Estrada has 39 hits with 10 doubles and 20 RBIs as well this season.
New York is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 games against the NL West while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning record. San Francisco is 26-12 in their last 38 Wednesday games and 11-4 in their last 15 game 3 matchups while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 home games.
I get the reasoning for backing either side here, but I’m on the Giants here. I would’ve been on the Mets had it not been for the complete collapse in the later innings on Tuesday and as much as I think a change of scenery is going to help Jakob Junis long term, I think he’s pitching better than a lot of people would give him credit for. Also, this is a quick turnaround for a game that ended around 1:30 AM EST or 10:30 PM PST on Tuesday and with these small rest spots, I like going with the team that’s able to sleep in their own beds. Give me San Fran here.
