In this article we will formulate a Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, May 29th at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in the series.

Mariners Looking for Four Straight Wins

The Seattle Mariners are 30-26 this season and they have won three games in a row. Seattle has won the first two games in this series by scores of 3-2 and 4-2. Prior to this series, the Mariners lost two out of three against Washington, split a four game series with the Yankees, and lost two out of three against Baltimore. Seattle is 5-4 in their last nine games and they are currently leading the AL West by 3.5 games over Texas.

The Seattle pitching staff has a 3.63 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and a .219 opponent batting average. The Mariners offense has scored 209 runs with a .224 batting average and a .297 on base percentage. Ty France is batting .242 with six home runs and 21 RBI’s for the Mariners this season. Seattle is 26th in the MLB in runs scored this season and they have scored three runs or fewer in five of their last seven games.

Astros are Struggling Again

The Houston Astros are 24-31 this year and they have lost three of their last four games. Houston has dropped the first two games in this series and they have only scored four runs in the two losses. Prior to this series, the Astros won two out of three against Oakland, lost two out of three against the Angels, and won two out of three against Milwaukee. Houston is just 4-6 in their last ten games and they are third in the AL West behind Seattle and Texas.

The Houston pitching staff has a 4.43 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and a .247 opponent batting average. The Astros offense has scored 246 runs with a .261 batting average and a .326 on base percentage. Kyle Tucker is batting .272 with 18 home runs and 39 RBI’s for the Astros this season. Houston is 10th in the MLB in runs scored, but they have scored three runs or fewer in four of their last six games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Seattle is George Kirby, who is 4-5 with a 4.33 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP over 62.1 innings pitched this season. Kirby has allowed four earned runs or more in three of his last four starts, and has allowed five earned runs in each of his last two starts against Baltimore and Washington. The projected starting pitcher for Houston is Justin Verlander, who is 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 40.0 innings pitched this year. Verlander has allowed two earned runs or fewer in three of his last five starts, but did allow 11 earned runs in the other two starts against Milwaukee and the Yankees.

Why the Houston Astros will win

The Astros have won 11 of their last 14 games as underdogs against AL West opponents.
The Mariners have lost five of their last seven games as favorites following a win.
The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight Wednesday night games against American League opponents.

The Astros have led after 5 innings in eight of their last 11 games as underdogs against AL West opponents.

Total Runs Facts

Each of the Astros’ last six games as underdogs against the Mariners have gone UNDER the total runs line.
The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Astros’ last five night games.
The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Mariners’ last four night games.

Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros Prediction

Seattle rolls into this matchup in first place in the AL West, but they are just four games above the .500 mark. The Mariners are 17-10 at home this season, while Houston is 10-16 on the road. The Astros went on a little bit of a run about two weeks ago, but they have gone back to the struggles that plagued them to start the season. Houston will hope Verlander can turn things around, as he has been inconsistent since coming off of the IL. Seattle will go with George Kirby, who has been pretty bad recently. The Seattle offense is one of the worst in the MLB, so I think Verlander has a chance at a very solid outing here. My Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros prediction is for Houston to get the win.
