The Cleveland Guardians and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Sunday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a St. Louis Cardinals vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Cleveland Guardians will send out Gavin Williams for the start here and Williams is 3-10 with a 5.12 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. This will be Williams’ first career start against the Cardinals. Andre Pallante will get the nod for the Cards here and is 7-8 with a 3.87 ERA and 86 strikeouts this season. This will be Pallante’s first career start against the Guardians.

Cleveland Guardians Recap

The Cleveland Guardians come into this one looking to win the series after falling short in Saturday’s matchup by a final score of 6-5. The loss put the Guardians at risk of snapping their series win streak which includes wins over the Twins and Rays in the last week and a half.

Guardians Trying To Secure Home Field

Jose Ramirez leads the Guardians with 166 hits as well as 37 home runs and 112 RBIs while Josh Naylor also has 31 home runs and 105 RBIs along with 26 doubles of his own. Ramirez has a team-high 36 doubles while Tyler Freeman has 14 doubles and Andres Gimenez has 63 RBIs with 30 stolen bases. The aforementioned Ramirez has a team-high 40 stolen bases on the year. Steven Kwan is also hitting .291 with 138 hits and 16 doubles this season.

Why the Cleveland Guardians will win

  • The Cardinals have lost each of their last five games as favorites against AL Central opponents following a win.
  • The underdogs have won five of the Guardians’ last six games.
  • The Cardinals have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven games as favorites against AL Central opponents following a win.
  • The underdogs have covered the run line in each of the Guardians’ last six games.

St. Louis Cardinals Recap

The St. Louis Cardinals come into this one looking to win the set after evening the set up at one win apiece on Saturday. The win would be nice for the Cardinals to build on their series win over the Pirates from earlier in the week.

Cardinals Trying To Finish Season Strong

Nolan Arenado has 150 hits along with 22 doubles and 69 RBIs while Brendan Donovan has 153 hits and 68 RBIs with 33 doubles. Nolan Gorman has 19 home runs along with 50 RBIs in addition to 15 doubles while Masyn Winn has a .267 batting average, 149 hits, 28 doubles, and 11 stolen bases. Paul Goldschmidt also has 163 K’s while Gorman has 151 strikeouts as well this season. Alec Burleson also has a team-high 21 home runs and 73 RBIs as well this year.

Why the St. Louis Cardinals will win

  • The Guardians have lost 11 of their last 12-day games against National League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The home team has won nine of the Cardinals’ last 11 games.
  • The Guardians have failed to cover the run line each of their last four day games against National League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Cardinals have covered the run line in four of their last five games following a home win.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction

I’m on the Guardians here. Williams has pitched better on the road as it is this season, but furthermore, the Guardians are the only team in this game with something of consequence to play for. The Cardinals are eliminated once again, which has to be disappointing for a franchise not used to sitting at home in October. The Guardians, on the other hand, are fighting for a bye past the Wild Card round and are jostling with the Yankees for the top spot in the AL and home field up into the World Series. I’ll side with Cleveland here.
