The New York Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Tuesday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. Here’s a St. Louis Cardinals vs NY Mets Prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

New York Mets Betting Preview

The Mets took on the Tampa Bay Rays in their weekend series. New York didn’t have any luck in that one, taking a three-game sweep with losses 10-8, 3-1 and 7-6. On Monday int he opener versus the Cardinals, the Mets blew a 3-0 lead but ended up winning 4-3 on 10 team hits. Sean Manaea put up 6.0 innings, three earned, six hits and a walk in the starting role.

In the starting pitcher role for the Tuesday game two, the Mets are sending out Jose Butto. This year over his five starts Butto is 0-2 with a 2.57 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 28.0 innings. Butto has a career record of 1-6 with a 3.89 ERA in 15 games (13 starts).

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they played the Chicago White Sox in their weekend series. St. Louis managed a 3-0 win in the Friday opener of that set, then lost the remaining pair 6-5 and 5-1. In the Monday game the Cardinals scored three runs in the sixth inning but none afterward. Starter Kyle Gibson put up 6.0 innings with two earned on seven hits and two walks.

It’ll be Miles Mikolas in the starting pitcher role for the Cardinals on Tuesday. So far this year Mikolas is 2-4 with a 5.68 ERA in seven starts. Mikolas has 29 Ks in 38.0 total innings. Over his career Mikolas is 56-57 with a 4.00 ERA in 185 games (157 starts). The Cardinals will meet the Brewers after this series.

Mets vs Cardinals Injury Notes

Mets SP Kodai Senga (shoulder) completed a 32-pitch live batting practice session over the weekend.

Cardinals RP Keynan Middleton (forearm) is expected to throw two more bullpen sessions this week before heading to Double-A Springfield for a rehab assignment.

St. Louis Cardinals vs NY Mets Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Cardinals, but I could probably go either way here. Mikolas hasn’t been too bad over his last two starts, giving up five earned in 11.2 innings on 13 hits and no walks. He’s 1-1 in that pair. As for Butto, he’s coming off a nice effort versus the Cubs (6.0 innings; one earned) with only a tough-luck loss to show for it. Butto is 0-2 in his last two starts.

On Monday the Cardinals showed some life later in the game but didn’t get multiple hits from anyone but Jose Fermin (2-for-4; run). Tuesday’s game is probably going to be close as well, but I think St. Louis has a good shot.
