The Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays meet in an AL East division matchup in MLB action from Tropicana Field on Sunday.
The Toronto Blue Jays will be out to build on their 3-1 win over the Rays from Saturday’s matchup. Bo Bichette has 175 hits including 42 doubles, 24 home runs and 91 RBIs while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has 166 hits and 30 home runs with 89 RBIs and George Springer has 21 home runs with 68 RBIs as well this season. Santiago Espinal has 120 hits with 25 doubles and a .267 batting average while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has 32 doubles on the year. Ross Stripling will start here and is 8-4 with a 3.21 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season.
The Tampa Bay Rays will try to rebound after their loss to the Jays on Saturday. Randy Arozarena has a team-high 151 hits, 87 RBIs, 20 home runs and 40 doubles and Isaac Paredes also has 20 home runs and 45 RBIs. Manuel Margot has 45 RBIs and a .288 batting average of his own and Yandy Diaz has 136 hits and a .292 batting average as well on the year. Ji-Man Choi also has 50 RBIs up to this point. Shane McClanahan will start here and is 12-6 with a 2.36 ERA and 190 strikeouts this season.
Toronto is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 15-7 in their last 22 division games while the over is 6-1-1 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record. Tampa Bay is 36-17 in their last 53 home games and 7-2 in their last 9 game four matchups while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 game four matchups.
I get the reasoning for backing either side here as both sides could easily walk out with the win here as you’re getting Tampa’s staff ace and one of Toronto’s better starters going at it here. That being said, I really like the under here as I think this is going to be a bit of a pitcher’s duel and a 3-2 kind of game wouldn’t surprise me at all. Give me the under here.
